So I suppose the 08 Celts get an asterisk since the Lakers -- who went on to win championships the next two seasons -- were without Bynum.

Yes, but only because we had a subpar coach.

Hah.

One would think going on to have the best regular season in league history would be enough to quell such ridiculous naysaying of the Warriors' success, but I guess not.

Aren't you the guy arguing with me that regular season doesn't mean anything.

Lakers without Bynum in 2008.  Do we have an asterisk on our championship?

actually considering that they beat us when they had Bynum a couple of years later it is always worth mentioning that when we beat them they did not have him.  I still believe Rivers was lucky to win that one championship in Boston.

Or they learned something from that loss and made adjustments in subsequent years.

Bynum was probably their fourth best player and he was injured much earlier in the season.  It's not like he was an important part of their game plan in the playoffs, he went down and on the fly they had to make adjustments to play without him.  The 2008 Celtics were so much better than that laker team.  That series was five and a half games.  The lakers were a lot more than andrew bynum away from winning that series.

I sometimes wonder if the lakers would've gotten gasol if bynum hadn't been injured.  The entire city was on edge that season after kobe's trade "request" and when bynum went down everyone thought the season was lost.  The lakers had to do something.

I don't see any ridiculous naysaying of the Warriors success.  The OP posted a question that could be very relevant if the Cavs win when healthy.

How about KG was never the same coming back from knee injury ?

No injuries are part of the game.

I really hope we see a rematch.  Steph vs Lebron would be so much fun.  I say winner should get the lead in Space Jam 2.
How is that a reward for winning?

For the purposes of playoff matchups, yes.

But when we are talking about whether that championship last year was a fluke, or luck, or whether it was because, ya know, the Warriors are clearly the best team in the league, the fact they went on to destroy the league the next year and set the regular season wins record seems relevant.

since Cleveland was without 2 of their big three?

Let's consider Celtic History.
Boston would have won 3 more championships then.

1972-73  One of the best regular season teams.  Havlicek's  shoulder
1986-87  Lakers don't beat Boston without the injuries
2010    Lakers don't beat Boston if Perkins is healthy

No astericks.

Silly.

You have to beat the team on the floor.

I can see their 73-9 record getting an asterisk   :P

their 2015 chip is safe tho

I'll go the other way and say the Lakers are lucky KG was injured in '09 and wasn't 100% in '10 (and that Perkins missed Game 7).

In fact, can we give the Lakers' championships in '09 and '10 asterisks because the Celtics weren't 100%? And the Lakers' championship in '87 the same, because Len Bias died and had he lived the Celtics would certainly have beaten them.

How about a celtics 87 team of :
Bird
Mchale
Parish
Dj
Ainge
Bias
Walton
D. Daye
Wedman
Walton

Came here to say this.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.
