  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Not sure why there's so much McMillan hate. He was a decent coach although not the greatest. Vogel's offense was so stagnant like Scott Brooks. I guess Pacers fans were expecting a big splash and from that viewpoint it's underwhelming. Not like it's Byron Scott or something.

Does make me wonder if this is a sign that the Pacers may look to develop for a few years.

C'mon Larry, send PG our way.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Solid hire, knows the players already.

PG is not getting traded, folks.

Quote
Bird wanted the Pacers to score more points — this season the team produced an offensive rating of 102.4, an improvement from 100.8.

Bird wanted faster pace — the team averaged 98.99 possessions per game, up from 95.5.

Essentially, Bird wanted more. And while the slight progressions might have been expected from such a flawed roster — a teenager, three career backups as bigs and not one true point guard until late in the season, and all this thrown around Paul George — Bird envisioned the team performing better than it did.

I love Nate McMillan. Delighted to see him back as a head coach.

I agree he seems a strange choice though. Those Portland teams were the slowest most deliberate teams in the league.

I'll throw in with those saying they like McMillan. He's a solid coach. I think it's a good hire. I also think, because he's an established guy, this is a sign that PG is staying and they'll be looking to build on what they have.

Wow, he was a head coach for 10 years already? I thought he was in the 4-5 year neighborhood and like only a couple of years ago. I hate time.
