I still like biyombo.
After these playoffs I think he might end up being a lot more expensive than I would like to pay.

I still like biyombo.

Is he a free agent this year?  I don't think I want to give up assets for him, but I'd overpay for him if we don't sign a max FA

I'm surprised by this interest in Biyombo. Definitely not an Ainge type. He's young with upside, but you can't give him the ball. Boston already has better players at his position.

He ate up these players better this season.   Bismark is a better shot blocker than we have.   He also is good as anyone we had on the boards.   He can score that much, but he shoots .54%  from the field that is better than anyone not named Amir on our team.   He can't spread the floor, and he is not a great fit for CBS spread the floor offense.   But is better than most of our bigs and does not need the ball to do what he does.

He also  can jump and is not slow.   So, your right in that he may not be Ainge's type of player.

Unpopular opinion: Dwight Howard.

I still think Dwight has a lot of game left, although he's really more of a 2nd domino. We'd still need a go-to scorer (Paul George? Jimmy Butler?) and some shooting to be a contender. I hope Smart is able to improve his outside shot this offseason but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

say what you wish about biyombo on defense, but on offense he is plainly terrible. he has a pair of hands that may surpass blount for "stone-ocity" and check out his shot chart. he can not, under and circumstances, in any way, absolutely is incapable of making consisten shots unless they are under the basket. he is a terrible offensive player.

this limits his contributions to any team. and in a CBS pace and space system, he would not fit in well.

as a center off the bench, i can see some value. but not as a starter on the celtics.

I think that that's a pretty good assessment. He's eighth in minutes per game for Toronto, which seems about right.

I would add that his passing is lousy and he turns it over a ton.

On the plus side, he's still quite young. I love the guy, but I don't see a fit in Boston.

Ainge is going to consider Howard.  And we will love him when he plays well, and hate him like a deep Antoine Walker 3, when he misses free throws.  But Howard at 15 mil a year would be a steal. Well worth Amir and Sullinger salary.

The question is will someone overpay him and offer him more than he is currently worth?

Bismark is a better shot blocker than we have.   He also is good as anyone we had on the boards.

Good points.  And defensive rebounding was a big weakness for Boston this year and needs to be addressed, even if Sullinger sticks around.

He can score that much, but he shoots .54%  from the field that is better than anyone not named Amir on our team.   He can't spread the floor, and he is not a great fit for CBS spread the floor offense.   But is better than most of our bigs and does not need the ball to do what he does.

Well, I'd give him credit for his shot selection (and, presumably, for being coachable in this respect).  "...does not need the ball to do what he does." - I'd turn that on its head and say that you CAN'T give him the ball for fear of what he'd do.  In addition to the shooting woes (actually, he wasn't too bad inside 15, though the sample size is small) he can't pass and is turnover-prone.

He also  can jump and is not slow.   So, your right in that he may not be Ainge's type of player.

Touch of cynicism here?  But there's some truth in what you say.  Ainge prefers bigs who have skills, who can pass, who see the floor.  But of course Garnett had those things plus the ones you mention.  Skilled players are more valuable than ever in today's game; I think that he has the right priorities.

I still like biyombo.
He looked great Yesterday. I like him too.  He is going to start next year somewhere if he choses to Leave the Raptors. He seems to keep getting better and better.

The elephant in the room continues to be the thing the team does not actually need the most but some posters can't let go of.

Biyombo is fine, but we should have signed last summer.

Now, we will have to overpay for him, not much interested personally.

Yeah, the key is to find the next Biyombo / Capela and sign him to a long term cheap deal a la Crowder.

I think next year the solution will be another one or two year stop-gap.

Especially considering the market (lots of cap space for different teams) and the cap rising in general.  We should try to find the deals.  Who are going to be more undersized players.

I'm hoping Mickey may improve and be worth looking at.  Plus if we bring Amir back, maybe draft a big, maybe sign some FA.  Let Sully go.  Play Jerebko at the 4 more all season long if we need to (which has been effective).  We could also play Crowder more at the 4 too if we get the right wing to add to our roster through the draft or FA.
