I want to hear your best lottery/draft night scenarios. I actually have two:

1A: Celtics win the draft lottery, and the rest of the results end up like this:

1: Boston via Brooklyn
2: Philly
3: Phoenix
4: Philly via Lakers (Because screw them)

Philly falls in love with Simmons in his pre-draft workout with them, and Boston knows this. So Boston leverages Philly to trade them Noel and #2 for #1.

After receiving Noel and #2 from Philly, Ainge calls up the Bulls management and gives them an offer for Butler: Crowder, Rozier, Young, #2 pick, and #16 for Butler. The Bulls accept the offer knowing they'll now have three nice prospects at the 1 (Rozier), 2 (Crowder), and 3 (Ingram) to add to their current young core of McDermott and Portis.

Seeing the recent moves the Celtics have made, both Durant and Horford grant the Celtics interviews, and both are blown away by the Celtics pitch to team them up with their newly revamped roster. They both sign near-max deals that leaves just enough room to go over the cap to resign Turner to a 3 yr, $24M deal, who takes a discount to stay with the C's as a key cog off the bench. We roll into next season with the following lineup:

PG: Smart, IT
SG: Butler, Bradley
SF: Durant, Turner
PF: Horford, Mickey
C: Noel, KO

Banner 18 here we come, baby!

1B: Celtics win the draft lottery, and the rest of the results end up like this:

1: Boston via Brooklyn
2: Philly
3: Sacramento
4: Philly via Lakers (Because screw them)
5: Phoenix

Philly falls in love with Simmons in his pre-draft workout with them, and Boston knows this. So Boston leverages Philly to trade them Noel and #2 for #1.

After receiving Noel and #2 from Philly, Ainge calls up Vlade Divac and gives them an offer for Cousins: Crowder, JJ, Rozier, #2 pick, and #16 for Cousins. Seeing the chance to add a #2 and #3 pick and tailor their core to their new coach, Divac reluctantly decides to accept the trade to add Crowder, Rozier, and Ingram, to their core of WCS, Mcelmore, and Hield/Murray/Bender.

Seeing the recent moves the Celtics have made, Durant grants the Celtics an interview, and he ultimately decides to sign a near-max deal that leaves just enough room to go over the cap to resign Turner to a 3 yr, $24M deal, who takes a discount to stay with the C's as a key cog off the bench. We roll into next season with the following lineup:

PG: Smart, IT
SG: Bradley, Hunter/Young
SF: Durant, Turner
PF: Cousins, Mickey
C: Noel, KO

Cousins' newly developed outside game makes the Noel/Cousins pairing work both offensively and defensively. Banner 18 here we come, baby!

1) Boston
2) Nuggets
3) Suns
4) Philly
5) Philly (Laker's lose their pick)
6) Timberwolves
7) New Orleans
8. Sacramento
9) Toronto
10) etc..

Basically I want the Celtics to get the #1 pick, and all other possible talent to go to the Western Conference.. except the Lakers  8)  It'd be great if they lost their pick!

Boston
Denver
Milwaukee
Philly
Philly

By the way, if Philly falls to 4th and the Lakers get a top 2 pick, we might have to put the entire Philly fanbase on suicide watch.

Haha, that would be hilarious, though that's what they deserve after putting out that terrible display of basketball for the past two years.

I mean, I'd feel bad for the fans.  They weren't responsible for the moves the team made.  And it's been discussed to death around here, but I think Hinkie's strategy had merit and deserved another year or two to play out.

Anyway, the biggest thing for me is the Celts getting a top 2 pick.  If that can't happen, I'd like to see the Lakers lose their pick, or at least drop to 3rd.

My nightmare is the Celts at 5 or 6 and the Lakers with number 1.

I don't know about you guys but #2 pick would be perfect for me

Let the 1st team take on the pressure for the next 5 years

And also move up to 9th and grab sabonis

As long as we get a top 2 pick I'm not really concerned with how the other teams are ordered.

I'd like to keep the Sixers out of the top 3 because they are in our division, I'd like the Lakers to give up their pick because they might bid against us for a star.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

1) Boston
2) Anybody except the Lakers
3) Lakers

Okay, that may not be the most popular option, but if the Lakers don't lose it this year, they lose it next year (or unrestricted the following year). It looks like next year will be a deeper draft than this one. Let them pick this year at #3 and lose the pick next year. They may not be the second-worst team next year, but they're not going to be much better.

Agree with the bold. Not the sabonis part.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

Celtics, Sixers, and Lakers, in that order.

Then, the day before the draft (after workouts and such), the Sixers like Simmons enough that they want to trade up to #1.  In a move that makes Hinkie cry, Colangelo trades #2,#24, and the Lakers pick to move up to #1.  We get Ingram.

Armed with even more picks, Ainge trades #23, #24, and #31 to move up to #12 with the Jazz.  He then flips #12 and #16 to Sacramento at #8, and picks whichever of Ellenson or Poeltl are available (I love Gonzaga basketball, but Sabonis is not what we need.  Sorry Donatas fans).

We pick Caris Levert at #35.

And we ship off our last two second-rounders as we dump James Young's contract, giving us about another $2 million in cap room.

Ainge can do whatever he wants with pick 45.  I allow him some leeway (unless he needs to combine it with #35 to move up for Levert.  As stated in the draft binkie thread, Levert is my binkie.)

I have an active imagination and too much time on my hands.

It's a great start, but I think after this you overpay for Butler and I'd rather just develop Ingram and maintain flexibility.

After these deals, the C's trade #16, #23, #35 and either James Young or RJ Hunter to Sacramento for the #8, where, due to concerns about his age, we're able to select Buddy Hield. The rest of the second rounders are used on Europeans to draft and stash for later.

Durant takes a meeting with Boston, loves Stevens, likes the young talent, and signs with the C's. We let Evan Turner walk.

Next year's lineup is Thomas, Bradley, Durant, Crowder, Noel with Smart, Hield, Ingram, Amir, Olynyk as the second unit. Rozier and Jerebko provide depth.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

This is nice. I agree it was an overpay for butler. I wouldn't trade a top 2 pick for him. Like you said, I'd much rather develop Ingram, who I think will at least become as good offensively as Jimmy.

Since we're dreaming and spitballing here:

Durant resigns with OKC - foundational point.

Land the top pick and take Ingram.

Sign Mike Conley.

Trade up to get Sactown's 8, with two first this year and the Brooklyn first next year.

Send the 8, the 2018 Brooklyn pick, Smart and Olynyk to Philly for Okafor. No interest in another offensively-challenged center like No Knees Noel.

Result: Significant upgrades offensively at 3 positions, get younger, Rozier gets to understudy one of the best PGs in the association, limit Ainge's opportunities to go brain dead on draft night. Somebody else gets saddled with the Bender albatross.

Not perfect, but as close as we're going to get.
