I think he's either Going to San Antonio, golden state , or okc still. He'll take a hit at first for ring chasing but people won't care after that first title. Kareem left to play with Magic, Lebron did his thing( just done in a loser way) . I don't think Durant is as different as some make him out to be.

You can't say no to Durant. We're very unlikely to get a top pick with Stevens so we can't really do it through the draft directly. We have to trade and our assets just aren't good enough. I think it's such a tiny chance that he comes here when even if you get him and butler or .. Pick any free agent, were still only a lock for eastern conference, when if he goes to San Antonio or golden state his team will probably be favourites. Golden state being a sure favorite ofcourse.

I meant to say lock for eastern finals. I think a healthy cavs team is underrated. But I still think Lenron is the best player in the world, not Curry.

I think it is a longshot, folks.   I worry about his fragility.   But he would put us on the map in term of other free agents and help us immensely with our scoring issues.

66 games in 11-12
27 games in 14-15
72 games in 15-16

Not terrible, not a iron man either.

This is not true really.  But your Boston fan so perhaps you didn't know and I think you get a Mulligan.

Kareem went to LA in 1975 via trade from the Bucks.  Magic came to LA via draft in 1979.  He did not leave to play with Kareem.   Jabbar was already there.

First of all Durant is fantastic player. Before the injury he was the best player in the league and i love his playing style. But now knowing there are at least small chances of him coming to BOS the more i'm thinking about how not good would that be in the long term.

Let me explain myself. Celtics are on a great building road. Young players, assets, high draft picks, salary cap... Great job by DA and we know he is looking to do something similar to 2007 but if only Ray or KG came to Boston in 2007, they wouldn't won a title.

My point is that Celtics are not one player away of title. If only Durant come to Boston i don't think that he would win a title, at least not in first year. So either DA makes 2 blockbuster moves or he will jeopardize the future. Why? Because Durant will be playing his 10th year in the league and he is not 25 anymore. He will not be patient and that will put pressure on everyone on this young team. Young players will stop developing and long term it will be bad id Durant get frustrated just like in OKC. So it's not simple just sign the best players.

Durant is far better player than Butler but i prefer Butler for this team. Butler makes more sense coming to Boston because he is younger and there is no pressure on winning in the first year. Also i don't want to sound pessimistic but Durant won't come to Boston unless another experienced star comes too.

There are two ways Celtics can go this summer. Sign experienced star players or sign young stars and continue building this young talented team.

You are in NO way crazy!!!  Durant is rated as the 150th best defender on ESPN's Real Plus/Minus!!  He simply does NOT defend!!!

Now that is not #269 like James Harden, who some people seem to be talking about us trading for, but it is pretty BAD!!!

Smitty77

Therefore we must not sign him! Clearly, his offense means nothing when he is ranked around league average in defense.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Lol at the concept that we are better off overpaying for obscenely overrated jimmy butler (the cost of which may include Bradley, smart, crowder and the Brooklyn pick) rather than outright signing one of the three greatest players in the world.

The hysteria surrounding premium-brand Ricky Davis is at an all-time high.

typical fan perspective imo.

while I know there is no guarantee of winning A championship with whichever route a team chooses to take to get there. a common mistake fans get caught up in is they get visions of dynasties and think that anything less isn't worth the effort. when in reality trying to actually purposely build a dynasty is not only futile but almost impossible. it takes timing and luck.

the correct way to go about it is to try and win A championship and let the rest happen if it happens.

so sure, while getting Durant guarantees us nothing. I can guarantee not getting Durant would definitely get us nothing.

11-12 was the 66 game lockout season, so he played every game that year.   He's really only had the one bad year with the foot problems, and then was treated a bit cautiously this year.

Obviously Durant for the max is better than Butler for Crowder Smart a top 5 pick and 20 mil. However the more I've thought about Jimmy Butler, the more I like him. Throw the Ricky Davis comp out because it means nothing. You are just using it as a rhetorical device.

Butler has some issues but im not sure how ovverrated he is. His defense has dropped off a bit as he has carried more of a load offensively and hes not a superstar. However, Im not sure  how many people are labeling him one. Hes a star. Probably a notch above Isaiah. He can play both ways. His work ethic has never been questioned, and his one weakness, shooting, is something I have some hope for based on his 38% year 2 years ago. Hes not a carry the team kind of guy, but I do not think he is "obscenely overrated" I think that title more belongs to Nerlens Noel.

I kind of agree.  If Durant doesn't work here it would be a disaster.  Only so many players can beat  lebron.  We'd have to put the right players around him.

Personality wise Durant is not KG. I have an issue with building this team with stars currently around the nba in general though.  A lot players in the nba today are overrated.  I don't think Durant is but he is in some ways.

I wouldn't blow all our picks on guys around the league regardless.  I'd rather mold our own guy. This generation of players isn't that great.

I would more build this team with the future in mind and try to build a dynasty another way that can beat lebron as he declines.

I would sign free agents and make trades though. I just would not blow all our draft picks on players from around the league.

I was all on board trading Al j because that was a perfect storm scenario and Al j was overrated here.  A top 3 pick is not and perfect storm scenarios aren't as good. I'd like to add a guy to go with Isaiah though.

The consensus is usually wrong anyways.  I can just feel it in my gut how some of these radio djs are and how disrespectful they can be to Danny ainge and the true fanbase of this team.

Butler is nowhere near as good as Durant.

To begin with Durant's PER during his career is 25. Butler's is 17.7.
