Can't blame Joerger for wanting a change of scenery.  Sounds like he had a strained relationship with management, and Memphis appears to be a sinking ship with its aging/injured core.

I just hope that Conley doesn't land in Brooklyn if they do choose to blow it up completely.  Not that I think he'd make Brooklyn a winning team or anything, but it's obviously preferable that they strike out on any major upgrades to their roster.

He can go to New York. Better team and more historic. Heck, he can go anywhere he wants except Brooklyn.
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

The Nets already hired a coach, former Hawks assistant Kenny Atkinson...so he's not going there.

Maybe Memphis and Indiana will swap coaches.

I think he was referring to Conley, not Joerger.

And it's true.  Lots of situations are much more appealing than Brooklyn if winning is the goal.  But Brooklyn also seems like a good situation to get paid big and put up inflated stats alongside one of the game's best offensive big men in Lopez.   Although I guess the exploding cap makes getting paid big less of a variable.

Kings need a defensive coach like him. I'm baffled how Kings were doing badly on that end, despite having talented defensive players.

It sounds like part of this was a philosophical difference.  Joerger wanted to run at a faster pace, Gasol/Randolph/Conley were resistant to this style of play, and management chose its stars over its coach.

I know talent usually wins over coaching in the NBA but Gasol is 31, Randolph is 34 and Conley is 28 and not only isn't a top 5 guy at his position, he arguably isn't even top 10.  This seems like a situation where you hang onto the coach as you prepare to make some kind of roster revamp.

If Memphis blows it up, would it be worth putting together a package to bring in Gasol? I'd try to keep the Brooklyn pick out of it, but he could slide into this roster pretty easily, if only for a few seasons.

Draft Ingram, trade for Gasol, sign Durant, win a championship with Thomas, Bradley, Durant, Crowder, Gasol lineup. Done.
Lol you make it sound so easy!  I'd love to get Gasol, I think he'd be a great fit here. Nice affordable contract too

Good call by the Kings management. Need to maximize the defensive talent that team has.
