DeRozan and KD

AB and JJ go to OKC for Ibaka

We cash in the treasure chest for Cousins while keeping Smart and Crowder to lead the bench.

IT, DeRozan, KD, Ibaka, Cousins
Smart, Crowder, Mickey

Fill in the rest.

I think if we happen to land Derozan and KD we'd have to look to trade IT. KD and Derozan are natural scorers.. Derozan's style is also too close to IT's.
With those two guys we would be better off with a true pass first point IMO. Or at the very least we move IT to the bench and start Rozier?
I'd start IT but let him get early breather so 5 mins then go to Smart 4 mins at PG. That should help the ball dominance. Then when IT comes back in he comes in with Crowder so DeRozan and KD can rest last mins of qtr, through the period end and some of the 2nd qtr start. IT, Smart, and Crowder are then finishing the 1st qtr strong together and start off qtr 2. It's almost perfect as far as IT, Smart, DeRozan, KD and Crowder rotation.

Same plan different day.

Sign KD to a max.

Sign Horford to near max.

Send Bradley, Johnson, Brooklyn 2016, Dallas 2016, Future Celtics first, and 4 second rounders for Butler.

Add a vet wing or a guy like Taureen Prince with our late pick.

IT/Rozier
Butler/Smart/Hunter
Crowder/Prince
KD/Jonas
Horford/KO

You hear this Durant ?

No to Howard or Horford please

Who else is a max level FA we can bring in ?

can trade for players and just absorb their contract with the cap space . Butler or cousins

But how?  Pickup Amir/jerebko options and include them in the trade?

It won't be possible on draft night. You rarely see draft picks chosen that far ahead. Isn't this actually illegal

It is not unusual for teams to agree to the principles of a trade on draft night but not actually consummate it until after the July moratorium, after it becomes legal.  If the trade involves draft picks, team A drafts based on the instructions of team B and the draft rights are included in the deal.

But until then treat the rookie like he was on your team?

What happens if he becomes injured?

Love and Durant.  Two of Ainge's targets from the get-go.

Ainge always gets his men.

Don't see the cavs helping the c's land durant by sending Love our way.....

Wouldn't you assume a trade for Love comes long before landing Durant ?  Ainge has the ammo to get it done if he wants.

I see a lot of ideas that end up with Durant playing PF for us.  I don't see why he would sign here to play out of position.  He is going to play SF where ever he plays.  If by some miracle, we get Durant, something would need to be done with Crowder but that is no show stopper.  Crowder would be fine off the bench and could probably still get 20+ minutes at multiple positions.  Or we could trade him.  But you don't play Durant out of position just to get Crowder on the floor.

Signing two max players that are both worthy of it would be tough.  Trading to fill the cap seems more likely based on who will be on the market.

Not a big fan of Ibaka. I'd prefer to keep Bradley and JJ in this case. I could see JJ starting instead of Ibaka and Bradley coming off the bench with Smart and Crowder would be a hell of a great defensive second team.
It's all about KD and DeRozan recruitment. I too would rather keep AB and JJ. Use AB off bench like you mentioned. But would you still be able to recruit DeRozan and KD keeping AB who takes up DeRozan PT and not getting Ibaka KDS bud.

Okay. That makes sense, if in fact getting Ibaka gets you Durant and DeRozan. Guess I'd be good with it if it just brought KD. Is there any real indication that is what would happen? Has Durant said he wants to play with him?

Reports have said they are friends not just teammates but Idk how close they are OR if it's a main driving force. I do know that having a friend on C's that will recruit and the starters + main bench I mentioned would be hard to turn down.

I'm actually not averse to Howard for the right price. I think his days as a max player are over but on a shorter deal, maybe a 1+1 he could be very much worth it.

I don't see us signing two guys this summer when all is said and done. I actually think it's more likely we get someone in a trade. For me Cousins is target number 1. He would be a fantastic fit on our team, we have the assets and we have the locker room cohesion to withstand any attitude problems

Unless a disastrous finish Derozan is going nowhere imo. He loves the raptors and his pal Lowry

Looks like either Durant or trade for Butler as our limited options for this off season. If we can bring in both. That would be just wow. Easy work for ainge afterwards as key fas(next batch willing to take a paycut) would line up around the corner to come on board

Interesting question though .

If we get to draft either Simmons or Ingram, Durant comes here , do you  "Cavs it" and trade either in a package for Butler?

Yes or no?

I say Derozan leaves the Raptors, I don't know why, somehow I don't see Derozan staying there for some reason. And I think we will "cav" it. If Durant comes here, and that is a big IF, we are in win now mode and won't have the luxury to develop a young rookie that hopes them to become a superstar like player in 3-4 years. I say if that is the case, I can see us giving that #1/2 pick away for someone like Butler. I don't see us giving them away for Cousins but I do think for Love is a big possibility.

I think if we are looking to just upgrade this roster with someone that fits our game, Love is more of an option than Cousins or Howard. I think the way this team is build up, we are more fit for running, and shooting. Essentially a more fast paced game. Don't get me wrong though, I love Cousins, but at this point I think that looks like our roster. I can be wrong though lol

Option 1 - IT/Bradley/Durant/Love/Johnson is pretty good, Love spreads the floor allowing IT and Durant to drive as he will pull at least a defender out. Also on defense Amir acts as a defensive coverage for Love

Option 2 - IT/Butler/Durant/Sully/Johnson - lots of shooting, some inside game in Sully, also lots of slashing and driving too as IT/Butler/Durant are all capable of driving

Lots of cap space is not much of an "advantage" this summer, since a lot of teams will have cap space for at least one max free agent.

Also does Durant care about that 5th year okc can give him?

It is now not allowed to sign for 5 years (team with adv) then trade is it??

we have cap space to get 2

and assets to get a 3rd

stop being so negative, we are clearly in a great spot .

While lots of teams have cap space, How many teams can sit two max FA's in the same room and say we can sign you both right now? The answer is not many and roughly 3-5 teams of which right now we are the best option
