If the Colangelos want to make Philly mediocre post haste we could try flip one or more of our merely competent bigs for one of their project centers. Ideally we could scam them out of Nerlens Noel, or take a flier on Embiid.

We need an upgrade in the front. a rookie will not be an upgrade, at list not for a few years.
I would like solid contributor at 4 or 5 with Amir coming of the bench.

Keep in mind that Amir due to his salary situation is likely to be part of any trade that will need a big salary going out.

More teenagers is definitely the way to go historically if you want to make a deep playoff run.

Dude we all want to sign Durant and trade for Cousins or Butler but you know what? Not happening Bro!

 If we got

 Simmons
 Sabonis
 Stone

You should jump for joy with excitement. We are not one player away, we are still building this team, in two more years, Smart,Simmons, Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, Stone, Sabonis, Rozier.

All those guys would be near their prime together. Simmons will be a superstar.

Most of those players will not be anywhere near their prime in two years. Super young teams do not contend for titles. Championship teams are loaded with 7+ year vets not second and third year players.

Since we have all these picks I'm going to use the all on big guy's, outside of Amir I want a makeover of out frontcourt. Sully's gone, Zellers gone Kelly might be gone the following year. DMC would be great, but this is if we can't trade for an all star big man.

 #3 Dragan Bender
 #16 Domantas Sabonis
#23 Stone if  he's there, Ante Zizic if not. stash

I the Ideal scenario is to Stash Zizic and Maker who both could be great down the line.

That gives us Amir, Kelly, Bender, Sabonis, Brice Johnson, and Mickey. With the last two D Leauge bound.

At this point I'm ready to draft a big with every pick, screw BPA. I'm drafting BBA. (Best big available) Lol.

You are right in seeing the problem but wrong in the solution. Amir has been ok and the 3s- JJ and Crowder are ok when we can go small and put them at 4. But the real problem has been the lack f other options. Sully sucks. So does Zeller and Kelly is ok in a weird role I guess but not part of the solution. But rookies arn't either. I don't know any of the draft class, but what I do know, is there is very very little chance a rookie is going to come in and hold down the 4 or 5 spot on a good team. And we need to be a good team if we want to keep our upward trajectory.

We need vets. Picks for vets. young players for vets. Over pay for vets. We are too far into this whole thing to give the keys to rookies. Our 1 2 and 3 have been fine. Rookies would be a downgrade over this years terrible 4 and 5. Do that and we will lose some of our 1 2 and 3 and be no better off even if whomever we get at the 4 and 5 eventuall turn out to be good players.

I think Amir / Jerebko / Olynyk with Mickey as depth is a fine starting point, but the Celts really need to add a couple of two-way guys who can provide more dependable and consistent production.

Amir and Jerebko is probably the best two-man frontcourt combo the Celts have right now but those guys ideally shouldn't be counted on for more than 20 minutes a night.

This is really one of the main problems with our team right now. We have so little actual two-way players, and the ones we do have are lower-ceiling players.

Offensive one-way players:
IT
KO
Sully
Turner (maybe - could also be lower-ceiling two-way player)
Zeller

Defensive one-way players:
Smart (hope for him being an eventual two-way player)
Amir
Mickey

Lower-ceiling (non-star) two-way players:
Bradley
Crowder
JJ
Rozier

And it's still really a stretch to call those guys two-way players.

That's part and parcel with how this team has been constructed.

Ainge has gone after guys who were undervalued for one reason or another.  The whole is better than the sum of the parts because we have a good coach and Ainge has mostly found guys who can complement one another to some extent.  The Celts have a lot of guys who are pretty good at something, they just don't have many who are good at a lot of things.

It's not ideal, but on the other hand most teams spend more than one season in the lottery when they're more or less overhauling their entire roster.
