Kerr wins COY, Stevens finishes 6th

Didn't see this posted anywhere else, but Kerr won, with Portland's Terry Stotts finishing a close 2nd.  Stevens finished 6th (with 5 first place votes).

I know we all hoped Stevens would have finished higher, but all 5 guys ahead of him really had great years too.

Kerr as COY I can understand certainly, but CBS finishing 6th is a travesty imo. He was a clear top 3 coach this season.

Doc Rivers getting any votes at all is also a travesty. That Clippers team was a disappointment on all fronts this season.

I'm pretty okay with where Stevens ranked.  I still don't see how Kerr wins it for coaching less than half of his team's games.

Stevens is a victim of the fact that everyone already considers him a great coach, so he has to overachieve even more to be seen as remarkable.  Not a bad problem to have all things considered.

So without looking at the rankings, I see in the OP that Kerr + Stotts went 1-2.  I'm guessing Popovich, Steve Clifford, and Fred Hoiberg also beat him.   

...just kidding on Hoiberg  ;).  Having trouble pinning down the last guy.  Spoelstra?


EDIT: Looked it up = Dwayne Casey.  Makes sense I guess.

Casey is the only one I'm a little surprised is ahead of Stevens, but then again the Raptors won the division and fought Cleveland for the 1 seed till the end of the year.

I don't know if it should be factored in to the award but part of the reason GS was able to function so seamlessly without him should speak of the culture he's created in that locker room.
