And if they do , who would they trade ? CP3 or Blake

Of course Blake is a lot younger and you can probably get more back in return . Say we did a 3 team trade where we send brk pick to knicks, they send Melo to Clips along with other pieces , Griffin to the C's .

Or should they trade CP3 and try to go young , and build around Griffin ?

If I were them I would trade CP3 and build around Griffin, Paul is not getting any younger , and I think it's clear that they don't have the cap space and assets to improve their current roster .

I'd just keep it together and try to sign better cast around DJ, Blake and CP3. Cap is going up and being in LA they could entice a nice FA. It's not blow up time yet.

well they are at 82 mil for next year already  , meaning they would maybe have 10 mil to work with . I don't think a 10 mil player ( Jeff Green type) is going to put them over the top.....

But it keeps them a top 4 team in the West.

They're not winning either way so they might as well make money.  I'd probably trade Blake for a decent player and some picks way down the line.  So like Jokic, player(s) X to cap match, and 2016, 2018 & 2021 Nuggets picks.  They'll win almost as many games with CP3 anyways, get an awesome young player and maybe hit the jackpot down the line.

No -- they should keep their core together and build a better supporting cast. The supporting cast is the problem. Not the stars.

I'm inclined to agree with this.   This team is still a top 4 team in a top heavy Western Conference.  That's nothing to sneeze at.  They have a pretty solid core in place that has a window that is still open.   Build around that.   Don't blow it up.

It wouldn't surprise me to see them go younger while avoiding the rebuild. I'm afraid they're going to try a Kyrie for Paul swap (been rumored to be an interest before), which would pair two of the least likable stars together at the top of the Eastern Conference.

I think they would regret trading Chris Paul for sure.  It took them years to construct a winning team.  If they blow it up, how many years before they get it back?  I can't imagine they are anxious to start that process again.

I could see the possibility to trade Blake Griffin or maybe Jordan but it would be for another good player or players, not for draft picks or prospects.  That would be more shuffling the deck over blowing it up.

I'd call Cleveland and offer Chris Paul for Kyrie Irving
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

They don't need to blow it up, they just need some shooting. A stretch big and someone/anyone who can man the 3 spot for them. Look for them to target someone like Bazemore in the offseason

Another Doc Rivers special.

He stinks!
Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.
