Woj says could miss 2 weeks, which brings me back to my post from the ankle injury when I asked do you just sit him until the 2nd round.
Last year, the Cavs brought Irving back against the Hawks (a couple of games in) and he ends up reinjuring himself in game 1 of the Finals.
Why do teams do this? Give you players rest when you can. Don't rush them back.
He was ready in Game 4. The ankle problems are not there. This new injury was a terrible accident. No one expected Donatas Motiejunas to fall on the court, and for Steph to slip and split on the sweat spot.
I think playing him in Game 4 was the correct move. You need to bring him back when he's ready to get his rhythm back, it's just unlucky that he slipped and got injured. I think even with a healthy ankle that thing can happen.
TP. Saved me the time to type the exact same thing. This injury was a fluke accident and had nothing to do with the ankle. This could have happened at any time. You dont sit players in the llayoffs for fear that they might get injured.
I am kind of in the middle on this. Perhaps there is zero correlation, but maybe his leg was structurally weaker from the injury and more likely to have an injury in that state. Did it also seem he wasn't really himself out there any not at full strength? Maybe a few days off would have benefited more. I do realize people could be saying we are stupid to be playing crowder right now..
I think playing him was the right move; he was healthy enough. However, I don't buy for a second the idea that the ankle injury wasn't putting more stress on the rest of his leg. I've had problems with ankle sprains before, and the compensation with other parts of the leg is real. It's hard to trust an injured ankle, your knees feel vulnerable, and you are most certainly not even close to 100% for a while.
Yes, I agree. However this wasn't the case.
He slipped, and the slip made him sprain the knee. While we could argue that without the ankle sprain, the knee may have held, but we could say that the knee would sprain even if the ankle was healthy. The slip out the knee in a position it should have been. If the wet spot wasn't there, we could probably be looking st Steph playing in Game 5.
