Amir has been playing great.

I expect he'll still be here next season unless he's required in a trade for a big name.

We should start thinking about who is going to replace Amir after next season.  Even if we re-sign him beyond this contract, he's not going to be able to play a full time starting role for the long term.

Who in the league has a similar skillset to Amir, but with more tread on the tires?

It's a short list I think.

Thadeus Young might be close-ish, but he's not on Amir's level as a rim protector. or passer.

Amir's overall skill set really is quite rare.

Festus Ezeli comes to mind, though he has his own health concerns.  He may not have the mobility to guard the 4 though - not sure.

Maybe as a sully replacement, I'd take young. Weren't there a few rumors that we were trying to trade for him at the deadline?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

We can live without Sully .   He has his moments ....Amir is more reliable for all around game.

Amir is only only tall decent big we got . Who can defend at all inside.

Amir is necessary unless DA signs better.

yep. he defended the rim well tonight. sully is a huge disappointment and a wasted draft pick.
LET'S GO CELTICS!

This is a what have you done lately world. I don't really agree though.  Still like Sully. If sully was shooting a music video though people would have killed him. MArcus does that and still shows up and does work. I think he mainly gets a bad rap right now because of matchups and that he was really outmatched by Millsap.  We were better off going small and with our quickness.

I think Sully still serves a purpose on this team where he can take advantage of players.  He's just not a good matchup for Millsap.

I like having Sully because he does give us that option and he's not a superstar who is going to demand minutes that way.  We were able to put Smart on millsap and not play sully this series because of that.

I think fans in general overreact.  Don't understand what is really going on a lot of the time.  Criticize guys when sully's role is greatly diminished this series and he's doing the best he can in the minutes he gets.

I would guess Brad STevens understand this. So does Ainge.  Their opinion is really what  matters.

Yes, probably why he lost his starting position, so his opinion is clearly not in line with yours.

Count me in as a guy who would rather rolll with Amir and Jonas and a new addition.

We are sunk without Amir ......injuries and old bones aside

He is all we got ....till DA can sign another serious BIG

Amir is worth more on the team

Sully is trade bait or let him sail.

Another efficient night for Amir with really good defense. Meanwhile, Sully has been a zero. This thread is spot on.

I just spent 30 minutes looking for a relatively recent study that predicts career win shares based on the draft position of a given player.  I couldn't find anything that really fit my criteria.  But my point is this:  it's fine if you're disappointed in Sully based on his play in this series, but I'd be shocked if he was considered a 'wasted pick' by any statistical measure.  I think many Celtics fans are frustrated with Sully because he appears to have plateaued beneath the expectations that many set for him, and he definitely does have teams/players against whom he struggles badly.  But like him or not, he's been an asset to this point in his career.

Sully's minutes have  been in the low teens the entire series.  It was obviously a conscious decision to play different guys on Millsap.  Sully had some of his biggest games against teams likee Golden State, Houston, Washington and teams like that during the regular season.  I still say this series is because of matchup issues and has nothing to do with Sully's recent play.  It's because of millsap and the celtics are trying to guard him differently then just putting Sully on him.  He would lose that matchup.

I'll go with that vs a board that seems to change positions on players daily regarding how they play that day. Sully has been in the dog house with fans for a while but so have so many other players.

The most concerning thing to me regarding this group of bigs is rebounding and inconsistent defense.  Amir has been by far the best lately at these phases, probably all season really.

Sully has been better about taking bad threes but still takes bad shots and is out of shape for the kind of defense required at this level of post-season.  I'm pretty over him after watching how Jerebko has performed starting.  He can stretch, plays better d and doesn't clog the lane for Smart/IT/Turner drives.

Obviously Sully's conditioning has been problematic, especially since he didn't lose the weight even in a contract year.

I would love to keep Turner, Jerebko and Amir as veteran bench depth.
