well, like I said the Celtics put this in KO's hands. so their doctors must think he's not injured enough to rule him out.

if KO needs his shoulder to shoot that's completely understandable. but like many have told me here specifically his defensive rating makes him very important to us. sooo unless he's using his arms to walk I think he should tough it out.

Kelly needs to be able to shoot to provide value out there.  If his shoulder doesn't feel right, he wouldn't help the team by playing.
If it's me I try to figure out how to fight through it and be productive and let the coach pull me if I suck.

Maybe it's just my personality but I always want to play. I've played soccer games with a broken foot. Ran track events with a blister the size of my palm on my foot and still finished first. That was high school. This is the NBA playoffs. Kelly got to man up.

Agree. He owes it to his team. Smart is playing with bruised ribs (which hurt like hell) and Crowder is playing on one ankle. There's no excuse for him not to be playing. He can help his team out in other ways besides scoring.

Exactly, you were in highschool. THIS is the NBA. There is no comparison.

Olynyk has a separated shoulder and has had  issues with it shifting around. How is that for high school?

Olynyk makes Jeff Green look tough, both on and off the court.

huh?

I had a broken foot. Not sure what point you are trying to make. The medical and coaching staff gave him the ok.

It's very frustrating to say the least. It's very hard to predict pain for other people it's all mental but if he is psyched out over it than he would be useless anyway. For me personally this pushes him more into the trade bait category.

I'm with you, since we are sharing those kind of stories I played half season soccer with a broken big toe and skied 50 days with a broken knee cap and I'm a bump skier. Sore shoulder wouldn't stop me from anything. Kelly has to nut up!!

I'm kind of split on this. On one hand, if Kelly doesn't feel comfortable playing with his injury, then he probably isn't much help to the team even if he is on the court. Also, fans (NBA fans in general) always get on players for not playing through injury. Sometimes, you have to take into consideration the players futures. I always look at Grant Hill as an example for this. If playing through an injury affects the healing process to the point where there is a chance of lasting impact on the body and it shortens their career, is it worth it for the player?
On the other hand, if the medical team cleared him (which probably isn't saying much given their track record), then he should at least want to contribute. Toughness and team first mentality is what this current team is built on. He should at least give it a try before opting to be inactive. Get dressed, go through shootarounds, and have it be a game time decision.

Yes, yes, we know everyone here is incredibly tough and has played with two broken legs and a punctured lung. Kind of irrelevant.

We don't know how bad the shoulder is. Your shoulder is pretty important for shooting a basketball, and KO isn't playable without shooting ability. It could be a much better bet trying to see if we can get him healthy and THEN play him, than force him out there to please the peanut gallery. Do you really want him taking minutes from Jerebko right now if he's clearly playing hurt and missing shots?

I can't stand players who play when they are injured and hurt the team.

People playing through injuries is 100 percent relevant. Curry was told to shut it down for a few games and he tried to refuse that advice but that's why you have a medical team that can make that call for the coach. They shut Curry down. Olynyk gets cleared to play but he refuses. That's Backwards to me.

From Brad Steven's own mouth.  "He's been playing through a lot of pain.  He got popped pretty good in the first and aggravated it in the first game.  The one thing that I know based on how he's been playing the last month, he would be playing if he could.  I feel very strongly about that."

He has been playing through the pain ever since he came back.  It shouldn't even be a question because if you had actually been watching the games it was obvious.  His shoulder clearly took a big turn for the worse.  Add this thread to the pile of nonsense.

^this

only ppl inside the team have enough context to fully assess the situation.

in the case of olynyk, he always had the reputation of being 'soft', so it is expectable that fans will be suspicious now; still there might be things we do not know.
