Winslow v Kaminsky

Anyone else notice Winslow repeatedly blowing by Kaminsky and making him look laughable defensively in game 1? 

I cannot believe how bad Jordan is at evaluating draft talent.  I really wish he had taken our offer.

Do people think Winslow is a sure fire star though? I get that he is just a rookie and already is probably an above average player defensively, but personally his offense may be a bit worse than I would have guessed. He averaged 6.5 points in 28.5 minutes with pretty bad shooting numbers *42% from field, 27% from 3.

Also I really hope we can avoid turning this into a thread on smart. I am just asking if people think Winslow will be a star.

I think Winslow could be a  a great defender and starter on a contender. Not sure on being an all star though. So much I think depends on how hard he works on weaknesses. It stings me he'd not a Celtic though. He's a great asset to have in a package.

But to answer your question, I don't think Winslow is gonna be a star. I think he will have a fine career as a solid starter though.

I think at minimum, he's Shane Battier level, with some upside. He's got Kawhi / Iggy defensive potential.

I think Jordan just cares about making the playoffs and didn't want to gamble on Winslow. I think he viewed Kaminsky as being more of a sure thing at being more productive quicker.

I do.  He's a top 5-10 defender right now.  He just barely turned 20.  He's got all the talent in the world to be a star in the league.  His offensive production will just go up, but he's a game changer on the defensive side of the ball regardless even if he doesn't produce offensively.

I do.  He's a top 5-10 defender right now.  He just barely turned 20.  He's got all the talent in the world to be a star in the league.  His offensive production will just go up, but he's a game changer on the defensive side of the ball regardless even if he doesn't produce offensively.

Do you mean a top 5 or 10 at his position? Or in the league? I think this is exaggerating his defensive impact right now. I haven't heard anyone anywhere even float the idea of him already being a first team all defensive player right now.

Yeah, he seems to like polished great college players who lack great upside more than most GM's.  And 7 foot white guys currently.

I would've picked Myles Turner over both of them. Kid has elite potential and incredible skill and size.

I absolutely do.  He is as good on D as I remember Kawhi was as a rookie and has way better offensive moves at that stage.  If he were on the Spurs he would be All NBA in 4 years.  On the Heat I still think he gets to All Star level in a few years.  The shooting will come, he definitely has the body for it and seems like a worker (and the Heat organization is solid). 

To me has WAY more upside than anyone on the Celts roster, though that obviously doesn't mean much in an early vacuum.
