This is my concern to some extent as well. But consider this: DeAndre Jordan isn't exactly Hakeem Olajuwon in the post, and he's still great for the Clippers' offense. Why? Because he crashes to the hoop on pick and rolls and is a threat for lobs. That means the opposing teams' defense has to suck into the paint, spreading the floor for shooters on the perimeter.
I haven't watched enough of him in college or with the Kings, but if he's a threat for alley-oops, then that's good enough to contribute on offense, especially given his defense.
