Just for arguments sake, we stay put at 3 and Dallas pick is 16 and the picks end up as follows:

3- Buddy Hield
16- Denzel Valentine
22- Thon Maker (D-League stash)

Is this enough to make people happy given that no major trades or draft moves become evident?

I'd be a little disappointed. It really feels like this Celtics team is primed to make that next step into contender status and DA has assembled the proper assets to make that leap. I have high hopes for this offseason, regardless of how we do in the playoffs.

I would be very upset. Hield is a reach at #3 and is likely to go 7-9 and Maker from all I've read will likely be a 2nd round pick.

If Cs have to draft give me bender at #3 then package 16 and 23 to hopefully move up for luwawu. Use the early 2nds to trade up for prince or take Nigel Hayes and a draft and a draft and stash big man.

At 3 I would go Murray. Higher upside than Hield, and similar level of athleticism, plus more time to mold him for stevens. It is close between Hield and Murray for me though. I have Murray and Bender above Hield though.

At 16, not the biggest valentine fan. I'd kind of hope for one of the tall lanky forwards in skal, davis, Chriss, or rabb (not as high on rabb)

Maker is cool with me. Kind of a throw your hands up type moment in that range currently. I also like the two euro bigs (zizic and zubac) but I think I'd go maker. All depends on the workouts to be honest.

Remember this scenario is only if nothing happens trade wise or we can't move up in the draft ala 2015 (which is highly unlikely but more of a doomsday prep).

I think Buddy can be our missing crunch time guy next to I.T who can immediately contribute and Valentine can be a cheap alternative to Turner with still some upside, along with Maker who is possibly the biggest upside of the draft but won't be ready for minimum 1 season perhaps 2.

I'd be okay with this, but I'd probably prefer Bender. I love Hield, but Hield AND Valentine would be redundant.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

I'll actually be pretty upset all around if we don't trade our pick if it lands three or worse.

I don't see us using any more than two of our picks, and I'd like to swing for the fences with someone like Maker with our later ones.

3- I guess I could live with Buddy at 3 but I'd prefer Bender and Murray, so I wouldn't be thrilled.

16- If we can't get a high upside big (Davis, Skal, Chriss, Rabb), Valentine is who I want so I'd be pumped if we got him. If we can't afford to keep Turner then Valentine is a great replacement as a secondary ball handler on the second unit

23- (we have 23 not 22) Is Thon agreeing to be a d league stash like the guy on the Thunder did a couple years ago? If so I'm on board. If not I'd prefer to go with a foreign draft and stash player with Jeanne being my favorite.

Won't make a dent for next season. We would be worse if we are filling up roster spots with rookies. We already have a lot of young guys.

If we don't get a trade it will probably be my biggest disappointment since losing to the Lakers in 2010. And there have been a few in between. I know there is a lot to like about Thon but there is so much unknown territory that maybe a player like Ben Bentil would be safer as I think he definitely translates to an NBA player.

Hield at #3 I'd be really unhappy with. Honestly I might not even take him top 10 at this point; I like the following guys better than him:

Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Poeltl, Murray, Brown, Dunn, Jackson, Korkmaz

and I like Luwawu and Ellenson equally as much as him.

44% 3 point shooter. That is absolutely something the C's need. He also has point guard vision and is a quality rebounder for the guard position.

In a word to the OP, no.

Ainge is not that adept a drafter. He's going to blow some picks.
