It starts with Anthony Davis (w/ Asik) for the AJ, JJ, #1 or 2 overall pick, Dallas pick, Philly and Wolves 2nds, Nets 2018 first, Grizzlies first.

Once you land him
Sign KD.
Sign PP.

Starters:IT, AB, KD, AD, KO
Bench:Rozier, Smart, Pierce, Mickey, Asik
Reserve: Hunter, Young and the 2016 rookies.

New Orleans turns that down.
I forgot to add Jae in which I just edited. But it's not a bad deal Ingram/Simmons, Jae, JJ, AJ, two likely lotto picks, Dallas 1st, and the seconds are high up all for Davis and Asik. Do remember Davis is a guy coming off season ending early and off season surgery. Asik hasn't done well in their system. It's a huge gamble by C's

I'm not a huge Davis fan at all; I think he's extremely overrated. However, he's almost unreadable. There are really only a handful of teams that could (not should) trade for him: Golden State, Minnesota, Cleveland, Los Angeles (Clippers), San Antonio, and maybe (but probably not) Philly.
And how did you feel about KG coming here after Danny used up C's high pick on Allen? After that pick was gone most thought KG deal wouldn't happen but it did. Also Davis like I said has current issues. Long term durability may also be a question. Pelicans cashing in and sending him East is a real possibility. The package overall is solid. And as you said your not even a huge fan. So if he is over rated how is the deal not more than enough 4 first (1 top two and 2 likely lotto), two high seconds, plus good role players. It's a great deal for Pelicans. Some would say it's an overpay.

A championship parade followed by the 2nd pick in the draft.  Like '86 only we get to see 2nd pick play for us this time.

Or an exciting young subs in the draft and Durant plus another big signing.
Yup

KG was 30 at the time. Davis is a 23 year-old superstar, who is under contract for half a decade at a below market value contract. He has a combination of quality, youth, and team control that is simply unparalleled. And it doesn't matter what I think of him, his value is absurd and will be for several years. The Pelicans, despite their incompetence, are still in a good place. They still have time to build around Davis, and trading him for anything but an equal or better superstar or prospect would be senseless. Trading him for unknown picks/inferior prospects from us would be insane.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

And yet it's a guard league and Pelicans missed playoffs. The team's record results and Davis' health is a factor in his team value. We can't dismiss those glaring issues when considering value.

A star. I'm hoping for Durant and Cousins but think DMC is more likely.

A Tier one star like Durant or Anthony Davis, coupled with an elite prospect (either directly drafted or dealt for with our picks like the Pels did to get Holiday), I'am thinking maybe WCS, or Nerlens Noel, even a punt on Embiid would be fine provided he's not too costly

KD would be best present. We'd get more FAs eventually and we'd still have a ton of picks.

KD is my choice.

We really need a young dominant big man. I think we audition a few for the draft, especially if we are not top 2.

Would we draft Ingram and still sign Durant??  Maybe not ?? I think Ingram plays some 4 off the bench in small lineups but then what about Crowder?  That is lot of redundancy at the SF  position.

Maybe I'm  over thinking this?

We need a big talent upgrade.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
The OP should be re-worded as, "Other than Durant..." because that is by far the best thing that could happen for us. We already have picks and additional young assets for trades, but getting a top 3 NBA player for 'free' would be amazing.

A go-to star.

Well Simmons would be that.  What better to get a young go to star who we can build with for the next 20 years with this team.  i'd sort of rather a center, but I'm not sold on boogie. It's close.  Simmons and a center as consolation would be nice.

Hield and Ingram is good. Horford etc, etc.  Pairing Stevens with Simmons for the next 20 years is good to me though.  Or Boogie. I'll say Stevens and Simmons though.  That's Belichick and Bradyesque.
You do know that BB and TB are the GOATs, right? That's a lot to ask of CBS and BS.

I'm not going to get too greedy and say sign Horford and get lucky enough to be able to draft Ingram and 2 BIGS (Stone, Skal, etc.)
