Yes, it's been discussed elsewhere, though you'd have to let all of our potential free agents walk.

Here's a good article about our cap situation this summer and how we could land both Durant and Horford. You'd have to extrapolate from that to add Butler to the mix, too.

It's theoretically possible to add all 3.  It's not a tremendous leap.

We'd have to send equal salary for Butler and probably multiple assets (Brooklyn pick?).  We'd sign both Durant and Horford.  We also could have max salary for a 4th guy the next year.

This rising cap is going to make things interesting.

Isaiah
Butler
Crowder
Durant
Horford

Easily the best team in the East...and quite possibly the Association.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

With Brad in charge it's a top 3 team, arguably the best team in the league. Only main concern is Horford declining and the money he'll want.

I think we'd be better off going for Ibaka or even Dwight for the same money.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

All three of those guys remain with their current teams.

Part of the difficulty in projecting whether or not something like this is possible is that the cap is unknown at this point.  It's projected at $89 million, most think it will be at least $92 million, and some as high as $96 million.  The higher it is, the more room the C's have (although KD and Horford salaries would rise as th cap goes up, but they wouldn't eat up all the increase).  It's a tight squeeze at an $89 million cap to fit in Horford and Durant, since we stand to have a pretty large cap hold for our draft picks.  It's much easier at $92 million.  At $96 million, it might be possible to keep Sulinger.

This matters for your desired Butler deal because the Butler deal must come third in the sequence of events.  At the same time, you need to keep that cap hold for the picks you're sending to Chicago for Butler.

If we're trying to win trophies now Id much rather horford over ibaka.

Ibaka's under contract for another year, so that would have to wait. Dwight would also cost more than Horford; he's a 10 year vet.

Listen to me. Our best chances at winning will be:

-Trading the pick for Cousins
-Then Selling Durant on signing here
-From this point Danny can work magic on the roster and go in any direction he wants to get other talents
-After 1 year we can sign Ibaka.... or Westbrook etc

I would stay away from giving Horford a max with a lot of years, but he will have 2-3 years of good bball left in the tank.

IT
AB
Durant
KO
Cousins
^every player can pass and spread the floor. Also would be an insane defensive team. but we would force people to play big. We also would have an insane bench.

Having a CENTER with legit size and the best skill in the league is really the golden ticket. Cousins and the Kings are done and its prob gonna get worse. If I'm Durant and I see Cousins go to the Celts for just a draft pick ( we absorb his contract for a TE...i think...tp who can tell me the answer) then I would sign there. The West has more elite competition and with Durant and Cousins we would be in the Finals prob every year. And Durant can always say to Westbrook and Ibaka to come to Boston.

Cousins is 280lbs, 7'6'' wingspan, 9'5'' standing reach.....that's BEAST then add the skill and that they're no bigs like him. We would have a huge advantage over every team in the league before we even step on the court.

Amir+pick for Ibaka works.

Would almost be our better option than signing Horford or Dwight long term at their age.

After firing Karl it's unlikely that Cousins is moved unless we get the #1 or #2 pick.

I don't think Cousins is realistic to be honest.

AB + JJ works too, and makes more sense IMO. I don't really see OKC trading us Ibaka if we're stealing Durant from them though lol. I'd love to do AB + JJ for Serge if Durant stays though.
