Can you believe this?  Our nemesis gets 60 in his finale?!?  Against a good Jazz defense?!?!

His legend just got even bigger!  It hurts my Celtic soul.

He played great last night, and I'm actually going to miss seeing him play. Even though I hated him a lot, I can't deny that he is one of the best players to ever set foot on a basketball court.

OT: Shaq's comment last night made me chuckle a bit:
Quote
Rachel Nichols: Just spoke to Shaq - he said "I challenged him to get 50 and the mother****** got 60"
That's just Kobe being Kobe.
Jack of all trades, master of none.

Before looking at the box score, I tried to guess the total number of shots he took. I guessed 42. Not even close.

When was the last time someone took 50 shots in an NBA game? When was the last time someone took 21 3s?

Well it wasn`t a real game.... I don`t know if Utah needed the win but to me it was more of a tribute game than an actual nba game

When was the last time someone took 50 shots in an NBA game?

It hasn't happened since at least 1984.

JR Smith took 22 (made 10) in April 2014.

Kobe's total was tied for second since 1984.

54% TS isn't terrible. Even still, the guy scored 23 in the final frame, including 15 straight in the last three minutes to bring the Lakers back from a 10-point deficit to taking the lead with a go-ahead bucket with about 30 seconds left. He closed out the game on a perfect 5/5 shooting from the field and 4/4 from the free throw line. He made the clutch assist at the very end to seal the victory. Who cares about how many shots he took total? Nitpicking for the sake of picking nits.

Sportscenter guy says Rick Barry in 1967.  Only 4 players have done it.

Who cares though, hell of a performance and of course Kobe goes out chucking.  They'll be talking about this game and the GS 73/Curry 400 games for as long as we're watching basketball.

Smush Parker said it best.

"Once a ball hog, always a ball hog"

60 points or not, if its taking you 50 shots to get there, that's not legendary.

But were the Jazz playing any defense on him (especially in the fourth quarter) or did it have an all star game feel to it?  I didn't get to watch the game.
