If the Warriors win out and repeat, Steve Kerr will have:

1. A total of seven rings as a player and coach;
2. Coached one of the two best regular season teams ever and played on the other;
3. Have won two rings in his two first seasons as head coach;
4. In a very early start be off to the greatest winning % in coaching history by a large margin;
5. Still stand as the NBA's career leader in 3Pt%.

(He gets #2 and #5 no matter what to be clear).

And while he was never an All-Star, he was certainly one of the best shooting specialists ever, and hit one of the more iconic shots in NBA Finals history.

He's 50 years old and rapidly building an all-time great NBA resume. Pretty impressive.

Agree, pretty impressive. Aldo I doubted him, and still are, must admit he seems very intelligent and I like his style and how he leads his team. He's pretty quotable also.

It's amazing how things work out. Remember Kerr was extremely close to becoming the next head coach of the New York Knicks. Imagine how differently this conversation would be if that had happened.

I'm sure you could say this about a lot of players, but also think of some of the Hall of Fame teammates and coaches he's had.

For coaches, he spent the majority of his career playing under 4 HOF coaches:
Lute Olsen (4 years) in college
Lenny Wilkens (3 1/2 years)
Phil Jackson (5 years)
Greg Popovich (4 years)

And he was teammates with HOFers (or likely HOFers) in Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, Robert Parish, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker, plus several other All-Stars.

He's been a player, coach, executive, and analyst.  Also played in the Final Four in '88 and won a FIBA gold medal in '86.

Really the only thing he hasn't done is win a championship as an Executive, but he did make the WCF as an exec in 2010 with the Suns.

The things in the basketball world that he's accomplished and/or experienced is pretty incredible.
