I think you have to take Simmons.  He worries me a bit but he's the higher ceiling guy, and there don't appear to be injury concerns, which is the real bugaboo for a high pick like this.  This is a great environment to provide stability and education for an elite prospect with possible attitude issues, too.  Heck, we could afford to flat-out bench him if he pulls any prima donna stuff.

Practically, I don't think you even consider anyone but Simmons or Ingram.

Who in the world voted Bender? Like, how?
I voted Ingram; but do the ppl who think Bender is rubbish have actually watched him play?
He's p [dang] good. If you have any argument other than but he hasnt played in the NCAA pls bring it on.

I admit I haven't watched him a ton, but from what I HAVE watched he just seems so lacking in talent, he seems soft, he has no moves. At least porzingis was somewhat adept in the post and stuff. I see literally nothing like that with Bender. If porzingis was never a thing, bender would not be a lottery prospect.

There are plenty of reasons not to take Bender #1, but "lacking in talent" and "soft" are not among those reasons. Bender is extremely talented and tough as they come.

This is a weak draft at the top. I would be much happier were we to land a top 3 pick in last year's draft.  I don't think either of the top two choices in this year's draft would be in the top 4 of last year's draft.

Simmons.

Surround him with shooting and away we go.

Imagine a fast break with a lineup of Thomas, Smart / Bradley, Olynyk, Crowder, and Simmons.

I want to trade the picks we have this year, the Nets 2018 pick and matching salary to te. Clippers for Blake Griffin. That not happening, then I want Simmons with the number one pick. Simmons, IMO, is the best prospect for superstardom in this draft so that's why he is the pick. This team also needs scoring, rebounding and athleticism in it's frontcourt more than anything else and either Simmons or Griffin fill that bill.

I went with Simmons because he is able to create quality looks off the dribble and would thrive in our uptempo system. Other than Thomas and Turner the C's really struggle to create quality shots off the dribble, Simmons would help with that.

That being said I really like Ingram and am torn between the two. Ingram's shooting could really help us, and his length long term allows him to fit into the switching defense we prefer.

I'm trying to avoid entertaining the possibility that we get Ingram or Simmons since doing so would probably leave me disappointed.

Yeah, that pretty much sums up my thoughts as well.

Plus, both players are very young and likely to develop significantly down the road.  Either or both could become much more than they are right now.

I'm right there with you.

Safe bet is to assume we'll end up picking 4th or 5th.

Assume that's the outcome and come up with 2 or 3 players you'd be excited to see the Celts draft in that range.

Then if on lottery night the Celts get lucky, we can all go nuts.

I'd be happy with Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Murray or Hield.  If Brooklyn finishes with the 3rd worst record it would take a historically unlucky lottery night for the C's to end up outside the top 5.

DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Right.  So at 4 or 5, I'm hoping for Murray, Hield, or perhaps Poeltl.  I could talk myself into Bender if that's who we get at 3 or 4.

My nightmare is Ainge taking Jaylen Brown, or reaching for Ellenson.  Kris Dunn would be fine.

I voted Other.  My other is Jaylen Brown.

There's something about him that really intrigues me:

funny, your nightmare is my wish and you thinking dunn would be fine is my nightmare.  i can't imagine another guard being drafted early.  smart, rozier, thomas, hunter, bradley, young, etc....

Brown is the type of guy that i don't want now, but will talk myself into within 24 hours of the C's drafting him.

The point the article makes about the coach having a terrible system for his players is a good one. I feel like this happens too often, I wish players would take things like scheme fit into consideration before deciding to go to a school.

Very true.  The thing is, when you are 17-18 years old, you aren't always going to make the best, right decisions.

Even non-athletes often choose the absolute wrong school to go to for the wrong reasons.   "My Dad/Mom/Uncle/relative went here so I went here!", or "This school was close to home and didn't involve as much travel.", or "All my best friends from high school were going there!" or "I didn't know that I might qualify for financial aid that would pay for that nicer school!" or "I went to this school because I wanted to major in X, which they are good at.  But then I changed my major."

The list of reasons why folks end up in less-than ideal circumstances is long.   Most of those reasons sound perfectly reasonable at the time the decision was made, though.

In the Durant draft we had the second highest odds and ended up picking 5th, so it has happened before.  In that case, three teams behind the Celts ended up in the top three places.

You would think that the luck of the Irish would eventually shine on this team.

Both Ingram and Simmons needs a little time to develop and then contribute. Both have tremendous potential and at the same time a risk to not fulfill that potential. I take Simmons because he is more versatile and can help in more ways if he works out. Would not be unhappy if Danny takes Ingram though.
