Idk, will philly draft yet another big in Simmons? There is a smallish chance they won't.

I'd take Simmons #1. Just too skilled.

I worry about Simmons, even beyond his lack of shooting.  I'm fairly prejudiced against guys who can't maintain academic eligibility, and he failed to really elevate his team against lower level competition.

Plus, completely unfairly, the last guy to come along with a similar skill and flaw set (although lesser) was Royce White.

It's not just CB, but sites like Draft Express have Ingram number one as well.  I can guarantee those guys know more than you or me about draft prospects.

I don't recall anyone besides Ingram or Simmons in the conversation.  Myself, I'd take Ingram, but it's close.

Chill dawg, I can guarantee you a 10 tp bet if anyone besides Simmons goes #1 than I'll give you 10 Tp's. If Simmons goes #1 then 10 Tp's to yours truly.
 We gotta deal or what...

I'll give you that he's a tough guy to make comparisons, but Royce white, No.

You want to pass on a 6'10" Jason Kidd, that is a top 10 athlete in the NBA for big men, and dominated on the glass,  hes a tremendous ball handler and passer.

Oh and he's  240 pounds of muscle alreat at 19 years old he has the body and footspeed to match up with Lebron. You can't pass on that.

Well, other than being a far more elite athlete, ball-handler and passer and NOT having the same diagnosed psychological issues, sure.  A reasonable comp...

Nah.  Maybe not.

Personally, I gave up on 'academic' concerns with the advent of the one-and-done system.

These kids are unfairly forced to partake in the NCAA system because of arbitrary rules.

How were Kobe's college grades?  How about KG's?  Amir?

Arguably, Simmons would have been better served following a path similar to Mudiay's and just played pro ball for a year in the D-League or internationally before entering the draft.   He made the mistake of going to LSU because one of the coaches there is a close friend of his father.   Not necessarily the best basis for choosing a school, but not really an uncommon mistake with young people.
NBA Officiating - Corrupt?  Incompetent?  Which is worse?  Does it matter?  It sucks.

Ok.....so every list or draft thingy I look at has the Celtics taking 3 pick DRAGAN BENDER ...WHO ?

I look at his stats ......not much to go on.....1.9 ppg ?

Is he REALLY a great prospect?

I'm more impressed with Thon Maker .    He played ball at a school about five miles from the house I grew up in.   Locally he was liked a lot .

I'm with you Shaq, Tp brother. If we take Bender with the Nets pick I'll barf in my mouth. That's why I suggested to take Ante Zizic with the Celtics pick if you want a good Euro big.

Avery Bradley will be LeBrons age or older before we will find out if he (bender) is any good or not   ........LOL

There has been some crazy talk around here that Ingram or even Hield could go number one overall.

I'm here to say there is almost no chance of that happening. Big Ben no jumpshot and all is the first pick if the Celtics we take Simmons if Philly or the Lakers get it they take Simmons.

Just too much talent for anyone to pass on him.

Not so. If Ainge has that pick, it's Ingram, not Simmons.

I'm right there with you. I believe Ainge feels the same. He's going Ingram or he's trading for a veteran all star with that pick.

He only takes Simmons if another team is making the pick (trade).

Simmons yes.
But I'd like to think that Brad has a good voice in these picks.  I think he understands really really well how to blend a team together.   I understand it's Danny's job and feel he's done an amazing job as gm BUT I like the idea that Brad can/should have some input on these real team decisions.

I agree 2short, I hope Stevens has planet of input.

But what are you saying exactly? Do u not think Brad would not want to coack Ben, or he'd rather coach Ingram.

I think Ingram is the nicer more coachable kid, but I'm in this for pure talent and that's Simmons.

While some of the gloss has gone on Simmons and there seems to be more of a feel that he will be an outstanding player rather than a 'great' or franchise builder, he is still the best player available in this draft. Right now (and nearly always) DA will be less worried about best fit and look at the best available player.

The chance that Simmons is a complete bust seem remote to me, even if not a superstar he will bring some value. GMs who pass on him know there is a strong chance they will regret that decision. I still think Simmons will go at one and though I won't be astonished if he doesn't, I will be if DA let him pass.

TP.

Simmons not only has the highest ceiling in the draft, he has the highest floor. He's the lowest risk and the biggest reward. I would be beyond perturbed if we win the #1 pick and don't take him.
