It's a question I'm asking my peers. At this point Isaiah is a star. He's awesome. Tommy now says "the little guy" in some sort of demonic voice, did anyone hear that last game?

The little guy is breaking Paul Pierce and Larry Birds consecutive scoring streaks this year, he's an All Star in the prime of his career. He's Avg over 22 and 6 and we traded him for Marcus Thorton and a horrible Cleveland Cavs first rounder.

Unreal. When was the last time anybody got an all star in there prime for practically nothing.

Harden.

Also Crowder was a big steal. Too bad there was none this year.

And he helps the teams ability to attract other all stars. IT has been a revelation and he's just starting what I know can be a brilliant career as a Celtic (well not just but he should be at the Cs for a long time).

I still think people don't totally take him seriously as an allstar. It wasn't long ago that most of us thought he was a long-term backup.  I felt like he was a gimmicky player that you throw out there to mix it up.

He's been really good, though and deserves a ton of credit for his play in the regular season.  More folks will take him seriously as an allstar if he makes noise in the playoffs.

I really hope (obviously we all do) he makes his mark on the playoffs. I think this team will only have credibility with some people if they can perform in the playoffs. As unfair as that is considering what they have done this season, playoff success is another level to regular season.

I'm one who thought the defence first combo of Smart and Bradley should have been the starters. That was back in October/November. Now I'm fully on board, I won't doubt him again. There isn't another player with his makeup in the league. He's truly unique and means so much to this team.

I'm not even worried about what would happen if another alpha was brought in, I think Isaiah would increase his efficiency and become even scarier

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Yeah he's recently taken it to another level.

He now leads the nba in drives to the basket at 10 per game.

Hope he has a solid playoffs.

I'd say he's the biggest steal since Harden.
Crowder is up there in the conversation.

The Nuggets 6th man was an enormous steal too.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

More of a steal than Harden IMO. He's almost as good, more of a team guy and was had for much less.

I'm just afraid within 3 years he could start declining rapidly with how many hard hits he takes, and depends so much on his quickness.  Enjoy it now.

Iverson was 33-34 before he started really sliding.. Should get at least 5 more years before any taper..

I agree with the others...since Harden.

I agree with the others...need to have a good playoff run.  Seems like he is peaking at the right time too.

Now if you factor in the money...WOW...I don't think anyone can compare to him around the league.

Ben Wallace is the only guy that leaps to mind. Undrafted but was a 4-time DPOY, 4-time All Star, and was probably the scariest guy in the NBA in the middle of the 00's.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

Brad Miller and John Starks were undrafted All-Stars too, as well as Ben Wallace.

Bruce Bowen, Raja Bell, and Darrell Armstrong have won some awards (All-Defesnive, SMOY, MIP) and were all undrafted.

Wes Matthews just got a max contract last season as an undrafted player.

Although he was drafted in the 2nd round, Hassan Whiteside is looking pretty good for a guy who was out of the league for a couple of years and signed to a minimum contract.

Outside of Whiteside (whose bargain deal is almost over), Thomas is probably the best value contract in the NBA right now (outside of rookie deals), and will be for the next few years.
