I see all these posts around...i want hield, i want hield...why? Stevens has developed a team character.. defensive one.. we have thomas bradley and smart... will hield play more than 10 min per night? I do not think so... we need to help crowder.. and some quality bigs..
Brown ingramm simmons skai maker jones stone poetl valentine are players i like...
Hield is just a good scorer... a senior one who was playing against many younger, more inexperient opponents.. his upside is not high..

My guess is Hield would replace Turner in the rotation and take some minutes away from Bradley / Smart if his defense is adequate.

The Celts will be looking to make some big trades this summer, so I'm sure Bradley, Smart, and Rozier will all be shopped to some extent.  Maybe even Isaiah, though it'd take a really extreme deal for that.

I wouldn't worry too much about a logjam at guard.  Just take the player who offers something the Celts don't have enough of now.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

my thoughts are exactly this as well. While everyone is talking about the BKN pick, I think ultimately, Danny is also looking at other options, possibly trying to replicate 2008. With Durant, Horford being FA and Butler being available, Danny would probably be thinking how to get all 3 at the same time.

So that probably means, everyone on this current roster + the picks will be somewhat shopped to give Danny some options to explore

I think almost everyone would take Simmons and Ingram over Hield. I don't think it's a stretch to take Hield over the other guys you listed.

I don't know if Danny will be looking to pull off a massive re-imagining of the roster given that the Celts are already pretty good.  Whereas in 2007 he was working with a bottom 5 group.

Pretty much anybody on the roster will be in play, but I think the focus will be on trying to add a couple of significant upgrades that will fit with what the team already does.

If that's Durant and Horford, awesome, but that's a super long shot.  Probably something more like one big name and then a couple of other guys who fill in the gaps (shooting, defensive rebounding, free throws).

A team that ignores offense to focus purely on defense will have trouble scoring points in the NBA.

I see no reason why Hield would be incompatible with the current roster. Stevens is a smart coach; I think he could get a lot out of Hield.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.

We need a big at 5. I know he just started moving up but i am high on Sabonis. Sons of NBA players have been doing well lately.

I'm in the camp that says draft the best player and figure the rest out later. Yes, we need a center but if there are better players on the board then we should draft them first and try to turn them into a better center than we'd draft.

Hield I'm weary of because I think the hype train was thrown into overdrive by some good tourney games but there is a long history of players being taken high on a couple of good games and then flaming out. I'm not saying Hield will be a bust but I'm more inclined to draft him where he was ranked before the tourney.

Hield might not have great defensive ability right now, but he has the type of offensive talent (25 PPG, 49.8% FG, 46% 3PT, 89% FT) has him looking like a future offensive stud - I'm thinking Damian Lillard 2.0 is not out of the question.  Hard to pass that up that type of potential.

I do

To be honest I'm actually not I'm honestly not THAT high on Ingram. He's obviously very talented, but I have some serious question marks about things like:

* Can he bulk up enough to defend NBA PF's?
* Can he rebound well enough at the NBA level?
* Does he have the court feel and scoring ability to be an offensive star in the NBA?
* Does he have the attitude of a leader/star?

I feel he's one of those typical draft picks who gets pushed up in the draft because of his physical attributes (wingspan, athleticism, height, etc) rather than his skills which, while good, don't strike me as future superstar material.

Like Tim Hardaway Jr, Austin Rivers and Glenn Robinson III?  :P

I could see us trading a player or two and getting an established player combined with swapping picks and moving down where they get our nets pick.

Two types of players I can't stand in the NBA. Undersized, un-athletic big men. (Sullinger type).

And undersized two guards that can't really play point, but have trouble bodying up bigger 2's.

Despite the great length and wingspan he possesses, Hield fits mold two in my eyes and I'm leary because of it.

Except that Hield was doing it all year, except for a stretch where he shot a miserable 37% from 3. He's not just one of those tourney guys. You'd have to go back to December to get to where putting him in the top 10 was considered more of a stretch.
