Excellent news for the pick, Brooklyn shouldn't win again. I do think they'll look to trade Young, but not Lopez.

I think they made a disastrous decision (if they had options) to not trade both this year during the deadline.  Lopez' value will not be any higher in the future than it was this year.  He played hard and was healthy.  Young was a legitimate steal from Minny for KG.  He is certainly valuable enough to get a 1st rounder if players like Jeff Green can net one.  They have a pick in next year's draft and do not have one this year, they need to get draft picks!

Lopez will be more valuable his summer because he has completed a fully healthy year.  Furthermore, practically every team can trade for him because everyone will have cap space, rather than having trade partners limited to those with $15 mil+ of expiring contracts.   More potential trade partners, including some who miss out on free agency, the more you can get.  It was the correct move if no godfather offer was there.

With the Pelicans out the way the only game I could see them winning is the Toronto game as they would be sitting guys for that game.

What's the tie breaker if we tie with the Suns?

Pelicans beat the Nets by 19 today. This is a good sign for the possibility of Brooklyn finishing with only 21 wins. Phoenix has 2 winnable games on their schedule. I hate to get my hopes up but that's where I am.

Great news.  It would be nice if the SUns got a win.

At this point, unless someone leapfrogs us in the lotto, this is a guaranteed Top 5 pick, right?  Even if they win every game and the Wolves lose every game, it's in the #5 slot.

Is there a consensus top 5 or do we still only have two guys to get excited about?  I didn't follow the tourney.
Tier 1: Ben Brandon
Tier 2: Buddy Jamal and Kris
Also there is Jalen, but there are questions about him. Decent centers within the Dallas pick range. Not much has changed with the tournament other than more people realizing how good of a player Buddy is.
There is also bender which for some reason is high on people's list.
I thought I saw Bender going as high as 3rd... did something happen?
That's where he is usually placed, however the only thing going for him is that he is tall. People say he is a shooter, yet his stays prove him to be abysmal from the free throw and euro 3 point range.

It's pretty much guaranteed no higher than 4 (pre-lottery that is). There's absolutely no way that Nets win out, and it's doubtful that Minny loses out. They're up against Dallas right now. There's also a good chance that Phoenix at least ties Brooklyn for the third worst record.

What are you talking about?

30 total games
39% from 3's (24 out of 61)
76% from the FT line

Lopez has actually played 2 pretty healthy years in a row.  It's been a good run for bone grafts.  Durant has been fine since his bone graft as well.  This is why I'd buy stock in Joel Embiid right now... I think the kid still might have a big future post bonegraft.

Coin flip.  Each team splits the ping pong balls evenly.  Coin flip just determines draft position if you don't get a top 3 slot.

Working out ok for Celtics ...considering everything

Would have helped if WE , and couple other even better teams had WON their Nets games.  ....LeBron  ::)

Unless Lopez was injured at some point , I doubt we ever could expect 1st or 2 nd pick .

I'm guessing he Russian is very impatient , by his past aggressive deals ,  he won't cash in Lopez and start over from scratch ......

He ll hire more vets and try and make the playoffs .

Nets made a big mistake keeping Lopez. Young ok, he is still young and you keep him

Lopez , Jack should of been traded for some picks.

Lopez is the same age as Young

Lopez has a old persons body now after all those injuries

I don't get where all of this injury talk is coming from. Sure, he's had two injury-riddled seasons where he's played 5 and 17 games. But he's played 72+games the other six seasons of his career, with three of them playing every single game (and he probably could've done the same this year without them resting him).

I think we all exaggerated his injury stuff quite a bit in hopes of him being injured this year to make the Nets even worse.

If this was any other losing team certain people would complain that they are "tanking". Turns out, there are legitimate reasons to sit players, even if it costs a bad team wins -- completely independent of trying to get a better draft pick.

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Well the Suns games vs the Kings and Pelicans will probably be the most important games of the regular season for the Celtics.

Followed by the Nets vs Pelicans.

If Suns can some how win vs Pelicans and Kings and the Nets lose every game, we got this.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

We should all be huge Devin Booker fans right now.  Maybe he can carry that team in the last few games.
