Please don't hate me for this, but it's something I've been thinking for awhile. And FYI, I haven't looked intensely at any stats on our offense, so if someone wants to point some out to me, that'd be great.

I just feel that maybe we are giving Brad/ourselves a bit of an excuse, saying that it's only Isaiah and a bunch of role players who can't score. At some point, do we need to consider that perhaps, Brad should have the responsibility of finding ways to get these not-so-potent offensive players on our team better looks? Not jumpers on repeated possessions, all bricks.

I completely accept the fact that our team (outside of Isaiah) doesn't have another scorer. But maybe it's also on Brad to find better ways to get the others easier and more make-able looks. Poor offensive stretches have been our death sentence this year.

I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

We have the 11th rated offense in the NBA.  I don't think our offensive talent is close to 11th overall.  I think it's asking a lot to squeeze more out of this team offensively.

It's amazing they're even rated 11th given that their only scorer is Isaiah Thomas.

It truly is. Idk maybe I'm just still mad about the clippers game and how we couldn't score to save our lives

And we are third in pace. Don't forget, that makes our offensive impact even better because we are getting up more shots than the other team.

I say we have 1 & 1/2. Avery being a 1/2 because he can't create, but his role in our offense is huge with him running around screens and hitting that midrange.

Sidenote: He's actually been getting to the bucket a little more. This excites me! He's been passing in the pick and roll pretty good too this year. [dang] I love Bradley

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I have always been worried about our half-court offense because of the slow-down style of the playoffs. We are amazing at creating turnovers and scoring off of those turnovers; we also do take a lot of shots. But, if teams start slowing down the pace and taking care of the ball, we are going to need to rely quite a bit on IT taking it to the hoop and AB getting open on screens. Hopefully KO can continue to make his impact and Crowder can come back healthy.

^this

so far, we have relied on a guerrilla approach to scoring. Without Crowder, who made lots of steals +had a decent 3p%, our weakness at half court offense was exposed.

playing against a more experienced team like Atlanta or Miami will be an interesting test.

in the meantime, i hope we snatch a decent forward for the 15th roster spot. ET's playoffs performances have not been exactly stellar so far; I'd like to have some more ammunition at the 3.

Good point. Gonna be interesting.

I think this recent period shows actually how critical Crowder is the the offensive scheme. Too many times, instead of a strong cut, all the millions of dribble hand offs just end up in a non-deep weakside post entry to Sully, who very predictably goes right and throws up that push shot. I'd love to see a stronger post player with better moves given a shot at Sully's role.  Maybe Zeller?

I'm pretty sure Zeller is not a better post player that Sully.

Also you can't have a player on the floor just for those post possessions. He would have to defend and rebound as well. And to be honest, I think Tyler is looking like a little school girl out there. Softer than soft.

I think the way Brad runs his offense is really not our problem. Lot's of good open looks are created. That's a coach his job, and it's being done.

To finish those open looks, is the players job. And we just have to many players who are unable to finish their chances on a high enough percentage.

We have two players who shoot over 50% from the field.  Five players who shoot over .30% from three point land.  Here is a stat chart that you can sort.

I think he has made several people far better than they are in all fairness.  The guy took Butler to the NCAA finals not once but twice.   Look down our lineup, where are the shooters.   Sully has low FG%, Smart can't shoot.   We do not have a lot of knockdown shooters to be honest.   I think Ainge is to blame more there.

I think the key question is; do guys get open looks?

The answer is "YES".   Then, it is on the players.

I think AB and JC can score some nights. but I concur we need another scorer.   I feel that CBS has made our pile of misfit toys better to play with and watch.
