If Ainge wants Kevin Love on this team, he wants a proven veteran that has shown the ability to put 22-24 PPG on the board at and efficient level but can also generate offense from the inside and outside while fitting into the team's offensive scheme as a number 1 or number 2 option. He also wants someone that is proven to put up 10-14 RPG.
In other words, he wants a difference making star.
There isn't a big outside of Simmons that will be in this draft that has the ability to be that player next year. We are in win now mode. Ellenson or Zimmerman could be nice players to put at the end of the bench for next year and try to develop so maybe in 4-5 years they have a chance at being what Kevin Love is now, but those players aren't going to give Ainge what he is looking for to transform this team into a contender next year. That is only going to happen by closing a deal for a Love, Blake, DMC, Butler, Horford, Durant type player.
