Smart just needs to exercise better shot selection.

I'd fear that we'd come to regret it by letting him go, TBH.

Reading that Chris Forsberg article from yesterday's BOS win at PHX reminded me of just how valuable he is to us.

I'd be VEEERY hesitant to let him go.

Trading him could have a Perk-like effect on this team. When Kendrick Perkins was traded way back in 2011, the Celtics never really regained their chemistry that season.

We all argued ad infinitum about Perk's worth (and his potential contract that he was going to expect) but it could NOT be argued about what he brought to our team AND the chemistry that went with him to OKC that year.

We'd better be VERY careful of letting players go that may be deficient in an area or two (but are GLUE guys that are great defensively, rebounds well, passes well and has a fearless streak in him). The results could be damaging to this team.

I'll roundly criticize Danny Ainge if he lets MS go and we get back sluggards.

I agree. When someone forms an integral part of your team's identity, you don't put them on the trading block, unless you are getting a nice return.

I wonder if Orlando would do Smart for Oladipo.

On the bright side, Marcus might only cost 7-8 mil a year on his next contract.

Absolutely not. Olafipo is pretty much what we want Smart to become, besides a turnover machine of course. What Oladipo does with the ball as far as playmaking ability goes is more valuable than anything Smart presents offensively. Oladipo is also a very good defender and can actually run a team better from the 1 spot than Smart can as a player that actually played appoint guard in college, something Oladipo only played in small spurts.

Smart's shot has really come around. My MyCareer NBA2k16 player requested a trade to the C's (from the Lakers, where he got stats but purposefully tanked games on defense and by calling for teammates to make bad passes). Smart has looked good from deep in our 4 games together.

I would hold on to him.

If we trade for an elite guard, he will be expendable. Right now, he contributes a lot on defense.

Small window to treat him earlier in the season but he's back to proving decent offensive play is a fluke. Praying for another window to come along and pull one over on another team.

I would offer our 2016 Celtics pick and Smart for Okafor.

Really?  Is Okafors offense really worth that much more than Smart's defense?

We need scoring man

I don't think the 76ers would do it, and nor do I think Okafor would be a good fit on this team. Hes woeful at shooting, free throws, and has been a terrible passer.

But hes infinitely talented; a promising big man with sky rocket potential is far more valuable than a player like Smart, who brings hustle, intensity, and intangibles plus solid defense for a guard.

But I would expect the 76ers would want a lot more. And I think Ainge would refuse to do so.

Anyone on this team is expendable though.

No one here is a franchise player. If you can get a superstar talent, then I'm definitely fine with anyone going, it just depends on the price.

i think smart is becoming expendable as its his 3rd year
he hasnt shown much offense improvement
we already knew he would be a great defender coming in

i think if ainge saw a deal where he could get an all-star player or a young player like okafor
he wouldnt mind dealing smart

We all know that if a guy is good on NBAK16, then that makes him untouchable.   Gimme a break, do you really believe that?  I about died laughing reading that.

He is expendable, we do not have an untouchable asset right now.   If he gets a shot, he might not be, though.
