My sources tell me that Carmelo Anthony is coming to Boston. I would love to have Melo in a Boston uniform. I feel like he has been unfairly criticized his entire career and would be a good fit in Boston. I think Phil Jackson knows deep down that he needs to trade Melo, and eventually Melo will realize he needs to leave New York. Melo wants to win, but as the main star of a team. We probably wont make a godfather offer, but we have the pieces that would appeal to New York.

I would take Melo over Love any day of the week.

Danny Ainge is itching to to get a super star type player and imo Carmelo is the one he will be targeting come next season.

No thanks, his scoring numbers have gone down every year since 2012.  He has a bulky knee already and he is going to be 32 in May.  He is not an option IMO.  If he is the only player that the C's can attain, then I say keep the picks and keep building in the draft....

If Melo comes to Boston, it won't be as the next "superstar."  More like when Dominique was in Boston, only with a few more years of tread left on the tires.

He could be a good #2 guy, but if he's supposed to be the savior at this point, I don't think that'd end well.

One thing that struck me last time I watched Anthony play was the way that Jae Crowder beat him up the court for breakaway lay ups about four or five times.  He was either unable or unwilling to run the floor.  Sadly for Melo, I suspect it's more of the former at this point in his career.  He's built a reputation for having no interest in playing d for most of his career.  Now, I think he's more or less physically incapable of it.

I predict the decline is going to be fast and furious for Melo and it's coming sooner rather than later.

No thanks.

The only way I would find it acceptable to take on Carmelo is if we knew we we're getting another legit star as well.  Getting Melo would mean we would have to be in "win now" mode and unless we get another star, we're not there yet.

How bout we just get KD instead?

I think he really just needs to be at the 4 full time.  I actually don't think the decline will be that bad, if his minutes and his role are managed properly.

BTW My sources: My feelings

Let me counter your feelings and give you every reason this won't happen and makes no sense.

1. Melo is almost 32 and thus far older than the rest of the roster. He's not a great fit in this regard because his window (see point #4) is far shorter than anyone else on the roster.

2. Melo is a defensive liability at any position and actually getting worse as the years go on. This doesn't fit the style of the Cs.

3. Melo can't get up and down the floor quickly and thus doesn't really play in Brad's style or the style of the team.

4. The only thing that's happening quickly with Melo is the decline in his game. His scoring is down 25% from 4 years ago. He's played 32,000 minutes in his career. Look at the guys he's compared with and you'll find the vast majority of them fell off a cliff statistically between 30,000 and 35,000 minutes. The odds of Melo bucking that trend are fairly long indeed and this could be his last truly good season. Or he may have one more. But there's not a lot left in the tank and it makes no sense to spend assets to get that unless it's part of a bigger plan. Any deal for Melo makes no sense for the Cs unless it's otherwise combined with a deal for another superstar (aka getting Ray Allen in anticipation of making a run at KG).

Time beats everyone. It's undefeated. Melo is just another victim.
Jaylen Brown will be an All Star in the next 5 years.

It's completely fair to note Melo's scoring decline, but I'm confused as to why people are neglecting to note his concurrent improvement as a facilitator and in assisting.

I think the thing people forget about the Big 3 era is that PP and KG were both younger than Melo at the beginning of the era and that the premise of both the KG and Ray trades was that that would be enough to win a title. I don't think Carmelo does that by himself.

Now as others have said, if we get another piece or two and Danny thinks Carmelo is the piece that puts us over the top, I'm game. But I don't think he's the first move unless Danny is absolutely convinced he can pull a KG like move soon after.

LOL no.

LeBron James wants him (and CP3 and Wade) in CLE next year - or before he retires remember?

But seriously I'd be open to Melo in BOS. His successful year in NY (when they made the playoffs) had him improving in nearly every category.

He put his head down and played hard. He then committed to NY over the summer.

If we ever got him here I'd trust him, CBS and Danny to make it work.

I like Melo but I'm not a fan of him on our team, even if he would provide a much needed scoring punch. We are an effort-based team, and you can see how our main guys (like Smart, Crowder, IT4, Bradley, KO, Rozier, and even Sully and Jerebko) give 110% effort.

Plus, I doubt Melo ever leaves NY.

Melo has been fairly criticized. Nothing unfair about it.
