  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He's played well. His +/- isn't as high as we'd like but he's certainly won us plenty of us games with his finishing in the paint, and he's been a solid defender for the most part.
Seems there will be a few suitors for ET this offseason and that probably means that bargain basement Danny won't be forking out the money he could get from other clubs.

The wildcard is that perhaps he'll stay in Boston and take a few million less because he loves it here. With Evan being somewhat eccentric this seems like a remote possibility to me and he may like the stability of Boston.

So are we likely to lose him this offseason? Who can replace him?

http://nba.nbcsports.com/2016/03/21/report-knicks-to-pursue-evan-turner-in-free-agency/

If recent history is any indication, one by one, the Knicks will strike out on the biggest free agents summer. Kevin Durant has reportedly already eliminated New York from contention.

That would leave Phil Jackson scouring the market for underrated players to take the Knicks’ money.

How about Celtics wing Evan Turner?

Chris Mannix of CSN New England:

The team that might be after him the hardest is the New York Knicks. I’ve been told that Phil Jackson is a big fan of Evan Turner.

I expect New York to make a run at Evan Turner.

Turner, a 6-foot-7 perimeter player, could be a nice fit in the triangle offense. He could even play the role of tall point guard Jackson seems to like.

But Turner found a role that will make him a sought-after free agent only once he began playing for Brad Stevens, one of the NBA’s best coaches. Would Turner remain productive under Kurt Rambis or whomever the Knicks hire?

New York might end up with a version of Turner whose deficiencies – high turnover rate, poor outside shooting and lack of foul-drawing – overwhelm his positives. Stevens has helped Turner develop. More so, Stevens has crafted a scheme around Turner that highlights his best attributes and hides his worst.

I don’t have much faith in the next Knicks coach doing the same.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

I'd be surprised if the C's resigned Turner this offseason but if they did, it'd either be because they made a trade where 2-3 backcourt players were moved and/or Turner signed for a slight increase but nothing significant.

I think someone is going to give him a significant raise. Good for him. As long as it's not Brooklyn that he helps, I'm fine with it. I'm not really ready to give him anything more than Crowder.

I like Turner but I think we can replace what he does with a more talented player. I wouldn't want to pay him much to come back. Next season, Rozier might be ready to run a second unit offense, especially alongside Smart. If that's true, we'd be better off letting Turner go and going after a 3-and-D wing either in the draft (Ingram!) or via free agency.

I'm not disagreeing that someone will offer him a big raise, but I don't see it being the C's unless they make a trade that thins out their roster in the backcourt quite a bit

3 year, 27 million?
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

If Phil wants to throw Turner a max contract that is fine by me.

Unless the Cs sign two max-ish type players this offseason, I fully expect both Sully and Turner to be re-signed at a reasonable cost. You don't just let your 'assets' walk unless somebody is going to significantly overpay for them or you can clearly upgrade those positions.

the key word is "reasonable".  also depends on what Danny does with the multitude of draft picks.  If he can't consolidate at least the first rounders (or do a draft and stash), it becomes a numbers game for roster spots.  I suspect Amir, JJ, Zeller, Turner and Sully are all going to play a part in that numbers game.

I hope Turner takes a loyalty discount to stay in green. Like Mannix, I believe that the Turner-Celtics relationship is mutually beneficial. He has no complaints about a diminished role; he just cares about winning and playing his best. Likewise, Stevens and Ainge are utilizing Turner in a way conducive to his, and the team's, success. I hope that the Celtics' faith in Turner when no one else had any (and his subsequent success once he got here) are not lost on him.

You just have to estimate the probability that a team like the Knicks is willing to over-pay a mediocre player.

Except that neither Smart nor Rozier has shown any sign that they're ready to run even a second team offense.  I don't think you can go into next season banking on that unless you're seeing real signs that they're ready.

I think if Turner ends up leaving it will be because we spent all of our money on two max free agents.  While I like Turner more than the average person, I'd be fine with that.

All you detractors do realize how huge Turner has been for us?
