I'd be okay with him if we end up with 4th-5th pick. Need a scorer bad.

Something very Gilbert Arenas about him to me (not the greatest athlete but very crafty and lethal from long range).
Also doesn't seem to carry weapons into the locker room :D

Yes he is...and he came up HUGE in the second half...when the pressure was on.

And it doesn't bother me one bit that he's a senior.

I'm skeptical he'll go that high.

A lot depends on how he does in workouts, probably a top 10 pick given his season long performance.

Wow he's really made me a believer. I was leaning towards Murray in terms of guards but I think I might like buddy more now
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Depends on who is where in the lottery.  There are teams that would put a big premium on "hey he's a 4 year college guy, great college career) like Charlotte.  And he has his big believers.  Personally I would take him near the end of the top 10 picks.  I think he will probably be a good NBA shooter who can do a little more off the dribble.

I haven't watched a ton of college basketball this year, but I definitely haven't seen six players I'd take ahead of Buddy Hield.  I think Ingram is the best pro player I've seen.  His game seems ready made for the NBA.  Then... ?  Hield is probably the next best.  Simmons doesn't look ready.  There aren't any dominant big guys.  Who looks better than Hield?

For next year? I'm not sure anyone is.

The question is who will be better over the entire 9 years or so you have control of a draft pick.

Ingram and Simmons are easy choices over Buddy for me, but I'd be hesitant to take anyone else (beside maybe Bender) over Buddy. I've watched a lot of Buddy this year, and he's lethal. Last night, he was nothing short of magnificent.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

That is a very tough question...with such a long window there has to be a tremendous amount of luck involved there.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Way to go Chambers by not giving away the result in the title  ;)

As for Buddy, if he comes out and performs well in the NBA and goes like 10th, then I think scouts will need to re-evaluate their analytical skills. Some guys just seem to have 'it', but we still make up a bunch of excuses why he won't be as effective. Steph Curry was pretty awesome in college, but he still fell past guys like Flynn, Thabeet, Rubio, and Evans. I know 7th isn't like his teammate Green who went much later in his draft, but I remember the same type of excuses why Curry wasn't going to be as effective in the NBA. Sometimes [lack of] college experience and 'measurables' aren't everything.

Over nine years?  You only get control over a player for 5.  Unless you are sure this guy is going to be a max guy after 4 years, I'm not sure nine years is an appropriate measure of time.  Maybe Simmons develops into that guy but I've watched maybe four LSU games and frankly Simmons hasn't once looked like an NBA player.  I'm starting to have doubts about what his actual skills are.

Bender I obviously have no information about.  Murray and Brown seem like JAGs.  The D-League is filled with super athletic guys who can't shoot and good shooters who can't get their own shots.

With restricted free agency, if a team wants to keep a player, it's very likely that player will be around 3-5 years after his rookie deal of four years.  9 years is the upper-bound, but if you're considering whether a pick will have panned out enough to get his second contract, I'd say to look for at least a 7-year time horizon.
