is there's truth to that info it would seem that he's going nowhere this offseason regardless of whether we get Horford.

if he becomes available for 2017, I wonder if there's enough cap room for us to go after both him AND Westbrook to add to Horford (if we get him).  Keep Sully on his QO, resign ET on an inflated 2-year deal with a team-option year 2.  Keep Amir and JJ for next year then renounce them for 2017.  Anyone know the salary cap math to see if it's possible?  Not looking for the odds of it happening, just if it's financially viable to get both with Horford (or if we'd have to forgo Horford to get both).

Sully will not play next season on his QO. Some team will make him an offer well north of that.

Here's the question. Do we sign one max this year (if we can) in hopes we have the option to lure Durant in 2017? It seems like that is a very risky move.
I feel like this is going to be our offseason to make moves, sign Horford in Free Agency and make a trade using some of our assets. If we do both of those moves we won't have the space to sign Durant in 2017.

Look, here's the deal: Durant's coming to us and the lottery is going to show us some love this year.

And if Durant signs a one-year deal, he's coming to us next summer with a #1 pick in an even better lottery. Either way...

How is it a risky move? we have 50 mil + in cap space

I would much rather sign someone like Horford to a max deal, than splitting that between sully and Turner or free agents of that caliber .

Then you just use the extra salary this year ( 25 mil +) to keep Jerebko and Amir, or relsease them to sign free agents that are willing to take a 1 year deal because the cap is going up even more in 2017 . Guys like Batum and Noah are guys that might be willing to take a 1 year gamble to cash in, if they can put up good numbers .

Keep the brk pick, let Smart and ko/ Mickey have more playing time to develop .

Then if someone like Butler is available at the trade deadline next year , you have better prospects hopefully in Smart, KO,Mickey to try and package with the brk pick at the trade deadline next year .

I have no doubt that danny is going to try on draft night though to lure Durant here this off-season.

He will offer something like Crowder, AB and Brk 1st for Butler, Love , Cousins, Griffin

If he can land one of them for that package or something similar  , we will still have enough room to offer 2 max contracts .

That means a roster of

IT
Smart or Butler
Durant
Cousins or Griffin or Love
Horford

There is definitely a scenario in which that happen, and that's not just looking through green goggles . It would be very similar to the kg,pp,ray big 3 coming together

Exactly. Not that it will happen, but this team has an opportunity to have three stars (2 via free agency, 1 through trade) within the next year to year and a half. This is while still holding on to a guy like Isaiah Thomas or Marcus Smart and keeping a draft pick or two (not the best ones).

Just the awareness of the possibility raises the probability, even just a little.

If Durant is only going to sign a one year deal, so he has the option of hooking up with Westbrook next year, do we have enough to trade for Westbrook to get both of them here?

IF OKC knows Durant is leaving (big IF, I know) and Westbrook lets them know that he's bolting after next year (I know, another big IF), maybe OKC has the incentive to trade Westbrook?

Amir, Smart, Rozier, all three Brooklyn picks could get the conversation started. What else would we have to give up? Would OKC EVER entertain this idea?

I don't think the one year option is about Westbrook.

It is about more money.  The cap explodes two straight years, so he can make more signing long term in two years.

Oh, and it will mark his 10th year in the league which means he moves up to the next level of max contracts, which means more money.

IT at it again as C's goodwill ambassador/recruiter?

Quote
BOSTON — After showering off following the Oklahoma City Thunder’s rout of the Boston Celtics, Kevin Durant looked down to see an unexpected visitor in TD Garden’s away locker room. It was Isaiah Thomas’ young son, followed closely by the boy’s dad, Boston’s starting point guard. They had stopped by after the Celtics’ 130-109 loss to say a quick hello to Durant, who was making his only trip of the season to Causeway Street. The two players shared a handshake, with each complimenting the other’s game, and Thomas and his son departed. This all came after Durant, unbeknownst to Thomas, offered some seriously high praise for the Celtics’ lone All-Star. “He was definitely trying to keep them in the game with his scoring,” Durant said of the 5-foot-9 guard. “I’ve never seen a guy so small that can do just about anything on a basketball court. He goes into the paint, finishes with the bigs. He can shoot the three, pull up. He’s an All-Star player. He played as hard as he could (Wednesday night), and I think we did a good job of making all his shots tough. But great players make shots, and he’s one of them.”

Just cringing hearing Stephen A pronouncing Kelly's last name.  And he calls himself an insider.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Thanks. I'm a pessimist by nature, but I've decided that that doesn't do me any good.
