Since it's a Sunday morning and I have nothing else to do I've decided to post my most optimistic, green-tinted, and improbable hopes for this summer. Let's hear yours.

Celtics get second pick, draft Ingram.

Mavs pick ends up at 12, we take Labissiere.

After letting Jerebko and Zeller walk, Ainge re-signs Turner and Sully.

Horford signs and becomes the starting center next year.

Durant, intrigued by the young core of this team, decides to sign a 5-year max and join Horford.

Ingram becomes a go to scorer right away, and Labissiere lives up to the potential that had him as a consensus #2 pick a few months ago. Within a few years, he takes over at PF and is a top 10 player along with Ingram.

2018-19 NBA Champs:

IT/Smart/Rozier
Ingram/Bradley/Hunter
Durant/Crowder/Turner
Skal/Sully/Mickey
Horford/KO/Amir

A man can dream...

Funny. Every guy on that starting 5 is 6"10 or more except for IT. Going small going schmall.

I like your dream scenario, but it's not possible to keep Sully, Amir, and Turner.  I'm pretty sure we would need to renounce all three to sign Durant and Horford.  Maybe we could bring back Turner or Amir with the mid level exception.  Sully would be gone with Horford coming in.

I do think we could make a strong case to Horford and Durant. It would be a great opportunity for their careers considering the talent we already have on the team and how well they would fit in.  We'd also have the future Nets picks which will add talent as these guys age.  It would be a great situation for them.  Hopefully, they see it that way.

I liked the part that Ingram becomes the go to scorer over Durant :D. The crazy thing is, although unlikely, there is a chance our cards fall this way.

There is a chance, albeit small, which makes this fun to think about.  I prefer the idea of Simmons over ingram especially if we can get Durant since he is more of a distributor than a scorer.

Simmons is also more of a 4, and a good rebounder, which would make him a great fit next to Durant at the 3.

Skal would be 3rd on the depth chart, he'd need a while to develop.

Probably not going to happen, but that would be an amazing outcome.

Yeah Skal would definitely be third to start, but the rotation is assuming it's 3 years from now. If we can get him with the Mavs pick I'd like to see Ainge just swing for the fences instead of taking the "safe" pick as Skals upside is just too high.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
Just signing Al Horford would be a really good off season for me. Everything else would be gravy.

As much as I want KD coming in here, I really think he won't. Al Horford is very realistic, and he upgrades our Center spot, and our defense right away. He will fit right in with our style, and we'll get another All-Star to pair with IT.

Give me Al Horford.

Although I do have a hot take in this off season.

If we miss out on a top 5 pick, I would like for us to trade that pick, along with Tyler Zeller to Denver for Jusuf Nurkic.

With him and Al Horford on the fray, we will be good at the Center position in the next coming years. Still young, has room to develop and has already shown he belongs. And I just think Nurkic would be a better prospect than anyone else in the draft outside of the top 5.

I'd like that.

#1 - The Nets finish with the 3rd worst record and the Celts get the #1 overall pick.  The Mavericks deliver pick #15.  The Celts pick ends up at #20.

The Sixers end up with the #2 and #4 picks after the Lakers get passed over for the 3rd spot by the Denver Nuggets (via New York's pick).

The Celts trade picks #15, #20, and #31 along with Avery Bradley and James Young for New Orleans's pick at #6 plus Omer Asik.

With the #6 pick the Celts select Jakob Poeltl.

The Celts use pick #35 on Caris LeVert, the rest on draft-and-stash.

#2 - In free agency, the Celts wipe the slate clean a bit by declining options for Amir Johnson and Jonas Jerebko and allowing Evan Turner and Tyler Zeller to sign elsewhere.

Jared Sullinger signs a two year deal with an annual value of $11 million.

Jared Dudley signs for two years, $7 million annual value.

Gerald Henderson signs for 3 years at $6 million per year.

Ronnie Price signs for 1 year, $3 million.

Opening Night Roster:

Guards: Thomas, Smart, Henderson, Rozier, Price

Wings / Swing: Crowder, Simmons, Dudley, Hunter, LeVert

Bigs: Poeltl, Sullinger, Olynyk, Mickey, Asik

Starting lineup: Thomas, Smart, Crowder, Simmons, Sullinger

Key bench: Rozier, Henderson, Dudley, Olynyk, Poeltl

Let the Ben Simmons era begin!

I know my post is a bit of a pipe dream, but I'd honestly be fine with one of Durant, Horford, Simmons, Ingram, or maybe someone like Barnes from GS. I feel like we're not too far from contending at all.
