potential potential.  Already plays a mature game and is quite the athlete.  Could see Danny target Rabb on draft night with a high 2nd 1st pick (try to trade up using a combination of picks for the 8-12 pick) .   Can only get better once adding 15-20 pounds .

Bosh comparison is interesting.  I also see Horford in Rabb's game (maturity)

Like this prospect better than Skal Labissiere in 7-12 range

I actually think he isn't very athletic at least compared to PFs in the NBA. But I love where he is at right now. He could really develop into a great player. But it will take him 2 or more seasons before he has that impact. Think like a Vonleh type no impact early.

He is really quick to grab rebounds / block shots like Mickey.

Has very good toughness and motor.  Can shoot/pass/handle a bit.

I'm intrigued by him too.  If we don't get one of the top 2 picks maybe Danny will trade down to grab him.

He will be gone by the 10th pick

This is where Danny's multiple picks can help us climb up to a Rabb

For the Nets pick, you might be able to move up one spot up max.

Then with all our other picks try to move up from 19 to 10 for example

He was compared to Ed Davis by Chad Ford.

I can see why, especially defensive end, pnr scoring/dunks/layups. Size/wingspan/athleticism

But Rabb can shoot/pass/handle the ball much better than Davis can

Exact quote, so that comparison makes me sour on him.

Rabb has proved to be an effective rebounder and has added a nice midrange jumper to his game. He needs to get stronger, but I could see him as an Ed Davis-type player in the pros.

That was a good comparison. I was thinking Brandan Wright. Ed Davis is a better comp.

The other guy I was half-wondering about was Tristan Thompson. Thompson was better built physically at that age though. I don't know enough about Rabb's defense to compare but Thompson's man-to-man defense was very impressive in college.

I do like his offensive skill but he needs a lot of work on D and to develop his body. He is quick based on the competition but I see others playing much quicker and faster in college and pros right now. I think with conditioning he could become a better athlete to take advantage of the skills he has and eventually defend the 4 in the NBA. That is why I say he is 2 years away.

No doubt.  But he looks like he can pack on 15-20 pounds. Has the frame. Skinny chiseled at the moment

And he is already ahead from a development pt vs Davis or weight.  Rabb can shoot, pass and dribble .  that is why the Bosh comparisons have been made (Bosh a little quicker, quicker and having a longer time wingspan though)

Though imo somewhere in between Bosh and Horford (good and bad). Or Davis and Horford

I like Rabb better than labriesse who lacks a handle or knows how to pass.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I don't know why, but I see Anthony Randolph in him in a sense that he can get away with it in college because he's more athletic and long than anyone, but will have a hard time translating in into the NBA because most, if not all of his competition is on par with his length and athleticism.

I hope I'm wrong, but that's what I see with Ivan Rabb.

It's like Bosh. Not as easy to tell. But I like Rabb motor, tenacity and not shying away from contact to grab rebounds. He has an excellent eye as to where the ball will bounce out to after hitting iron. He has natural rebounding ability plus the "snappyness" to get to the ball quicker

Randolph was never a PF in the NBA.  Toothpick physique.  Rabb has a good frame  and looks like will be able to fill out in a few years

That's what they said with Anthony Randolph when he came in to Golden State. He would fill up his body, and his potential is sky high due to his length and athleticism.

Again, I hope I'm wrong, but this is looking eerily similar to me. I had high hopes for Anthony Randolph when he came to the Bay, and it never materialized. Hope that Rabb doesn't do the same. He's a Cal guy, I root for Bay Area guys so I wish him the best, either with us or with someone else. I just can't shake the similarities.
