He doesn't bother me much, as someone said, he's not in our future plans so I expect him being dumped after season ends. I just think, if Mickey is in our plans, then give him minutes. I just don't see how can he be wors than Zeller.

There has to be someone that gets repetitively berated on the game threads.  And so, it's Zeller's turn.

Zeller is a pretty good back-up/3rd string center who averages 6 and 3 in 11 minutes.  He is neither a strong rebounder nor a strong defender, but he puts the ball in the hoop fairly well near the hoop and has a decent mid-range shot.  And I think I just described a pretty good NBA back-up/ 3rd string center.  If he was a good defender/rebounder, he'd start.

So now he's the new ET of the game threads. The Zeller hate posts have now become boringly predictable every game.

It's funny that everytime the Celtics lose, it is Zeller's fault and all the other Celtic players played great...I must need new glasses...

I don't think any of these games have been Zeller's fault.   But as the poster above said he is 3rd string C.   It is was it is folks.

It hurts us right now, when we have to rely on him with Olynyk being out.  He is not as good as a player, and I think it magnifies this situation.

With Lee gone, somebody needs to take the blame.

Tyler was a temporary fix when we got him, and luckily we paid nothing for him. Right now he's playing at an all time low, and that's saying something for him. DA should have unloaded him last year when he showed a tiny bit of life in his game. His body language is terrible, and frankly he's playing himself out of the NBA.

No...The loss isn't Zeller's fault directly, he can't help it that he adds very little to the team.

Last night's loss is not all Zeller's fault.  Avery had an off night shooting 3's and so did Crowder and that was a bigger factor.

However the fact that Zeller played 14 + minutes and failed to grab a single rebound and 6'1" Terry Rozier somehow managed to grab 7 rebounds in 10 minutes shows what poor rebounder Zeller is.

This "Brad is only using Zeller because he has to" stuff is ridiculous.

IT 34 / Smart 14
Bradley 32 / Smart 16
Crowder 20 / Turner 28
Sully 14 / Crowder 12 / Jerebko 22
Amir 30 / Sully 18

I will go small any day of the week over Zeller.  And I actually like the guy.  He's just a horrible fit for our team.

Jerebko and Crowder will guard any 4 or 5 in the league better than Zeller can, and they can switch in any pick and roll, while Zeller might as well lay down if he has to guard someone on the perimeter.  Offensively, they more than make up for any rebounding advantage Zeller has over them.

His pick and roll defense is killing us, and on offense, he gets open in the pick and roll, but he has trouble catching/controlling the ball and turns it over as often as he scores.  Not to mention, we don't really have a guy aside from ET who can make that pass soft and consistently.

He is a capable backup NBA center.  That's it.

We can argue about the whole Mickey thing, but I'm more passionate about the C's just letting him walk this summer. There's no way the C's should be worried about locking up their 2nd or 3rd string center before they've even found their 1st, particularly when Brad loves to play small ball so much (limiting the role of backup bigs).

Lots of overreactions in this thread. Zeller is a back-up Center doing a fine job of what he's being asked to do.

Mickey, on the other hand, can't crack the rotation ahead of Zeller. If you want to misplace anger, point to Mickey.

Offensively, Zeller makes Mickey look like a D-Leaguer...

(see what I did there?)

1st, 2nd, 3rd string Nba centre needs to defend and rebound before anything else.

How many teams have a clearly superior backup center?
Even Colé Aldridge is better than him, you do the math.

Colé Aldridge huh?

I can't compete with that analysis.
