I thought this was very enlightening.  He's a special coach who keeps getting better.  Danny made an excellent choice when getting him.

tp for a good article. thanks.

i still remember posters in the first year or two saying how CBS would leave the celtics. losing was too much for him. he would return to the college ranks.

patience pays off both for CBS and posters here. sometimes it takes a few years for a coach, or players, to really understand and grow. i am glad CBS is here and i think he will be here for a long, long time...or at least i hope so.  :)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

On a related note, I have no idea what Trags was thinking when he wrote this paragraph:

Quote
Wednesday night, the Celtics came into the locker room at halftime, trailing the undermanned Grizzlies and Tony Allen, 55-52. The Grizzlies didn't have space-eater Zach Randolph or star point guard Mike Conley, yet they were being handled. Without Randolph, Memphis was out-rebounding Boston, 29-14. Without Conley, the Celtics were shooting just 39 percent. They were getting outworked.

Stevens is the perfect type of coach for Smart too.  It would be very easy for a typical NBA, even college coach, to bench Smart after the fine and/or after the second technical.

Stevens is smart (pardon the pun) enough to know that while those are negatives for the team, they are slight negatives, because they are born from Smart's relentless competitiveness and effort.  Stevens will figure out the best way to harness that and when it's complete....watch out NBA.

I love the mix of the crazy intensity of Crowder Smart and Thomas and then the steady presence of Brad.
