Player option in 2nd year of Cavs contract. Some loyalty to his hometown, lol.

It's so he can take advantage of the cap spike this summer.  Loyalty to Cleveland does not mean loyalty to the billionaire owner of the Cavs and trying to save him money.

I don't want to hold this against Lebron as he and Wade are friends IRL and who knows what might have been going on. There are many possible reasons a friend might feel compelled to visit another friend. These guys have lives and problems just like everyone else.

On the other hand, Lebron is once again tone deaf. Visiting your former teammate on the team you just left when you can opt out at the end of the season and your current team is in turmoil? That sends a bad message.

The whole 'working out with a potential playoff opponent' angle is stupid. None of that will matter when guys are playing. Heck, teammates have fights all the time. Best friends will want to punch each other on the court sometimes.

The fact is he left the option open to leave Cleveland for more money. Maybe the owner renegotiates with him so he can get that money without moving, but make no mistake, the money is the important thing.

Funniest part is, Cleveland can't do a thing about it. Lebron owns them so he can do whatever he wants. No one will discipline him (even though they should to show people that they're a competent franchise) because they don't want him to leave again.

The Cleveland Cavaliers: The strongest basketball team to ever be walking on eggshells. Again.

The fact is you don't seem to understand how the collective bargaining agreement works.

LeBrons loyalty is about as real as his hair line.

What's wrong with a couple of buddies getting together and cooking up a favorite Asian dish?

and besides, his primary objective was probably to get a cycle in before playoffs start.  six weeks out, right?

can't blame him though, they've got some of the best anti-aging clinics in the country down in Miami...

It would be great if Lebron leaves Cleveland. I'm guessing they would try to trade Love for draft picks at that point. We could probably offer Olynyk and the 2016 Nets pick for Love. As long as it's not a top 3 pick.

Funny.

One of the NBA announcers on ESPN Cavs/wiz game banging Bron Bron about practicing during the season with Wade.

Someone (from ESPN, surprisingly) telling the Empereor he has no clothes on!

Nailed it. This isn't about Lebron being a bad leader or wanting to work out with a close friend. This is about Lebron going back to Miami to link up with whatever clinic/physician/dealer that's been helping him juice since his Heat days.

Look at this article from two months ago, about James's previous trip to Miami:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/236182/LeBron-James-Returns-To-Miami-For-Rehab

The thrust of the article is that James took time away from the team to rehab his back and knee, and did part of that in Miami. Among the reasons cited by the team for him going down there were that: "Spending time in the warmer weather was deemed healthy for James' back."

So spending five hours sitting on a plane in order to spend a couple days in Miami is better for one's back? What?

This is so clear to me, I don't know why others don't see it. The guy is super gifted, for sure, but for the past few years he's been simultaneously faster than all other players on the court and the same weight as Karl Malone. What's the most rational conclusion here?

What people are missing: Ty Lue gave the Cavs 2 days off. LeBron is rich enough to have a private jet get him to Miami in 2 hours. How many of us on weekends have taken a 2, 3, 4 hour trip to get away on a couple of our off days for work. Because it's LeBron James, and because it's Miami it's a story, but really it should be a non-story.

I am not a LeBron admirer, but come on who cares.

When he fled the Cavs back in 2010, I believe that Dan Gilbert was so irate that he was going to blow the whistle on James' drug use, to prevent the public relations disaster that this would have been for the league, The leagues money men promised Gilbert and the Cavs to help them out, thus gifting them 3 number 1 overall draft picks.
That has kept a lid on it so far, it will all come out in the end i believe once his talents no longer serve a purpose to generate financial gain, he will be exposed.

I'm with you.  Lebron lost 15+ pounds of muscle in a month or so after the 2013/2014 season.  He didn't look like himself the next season until after that mini vacation in Miami and then gained that muscle back very quickly.  Losing and gaining fat would be one thing, but losing and regaining that much muscle doesn't make much sense.  I think it's pretty obvious he's using HGH or something else.  That said, I doubt it's that uncommon in the NBA.
