If Danny can't make a trade on draft night what's next?

I would.  Both because it's hard to find a trade on draft night near the top of the draft (as we saw last year) and there's limited value in getting more picks, relative to just picking the guy you want 3-4 spots early.

limited value yes, unless they are future picks. right now i dont think anyone, ainge included, knows how draft night will unfold.

I'm looking forward to the draft just to see what Danny does with all of those second round picks. Somebody good will not get picked and Danny will be waiting for him with the top pick in the second round. With the rest of the picks  I assume he will be drafting international players.

Yup. 

This is the way teams like the Cavs work. Trade their picks  at the deadline and them make a ton of money in the playoffs and buy one on draft night.

But will Danny want to sell the evil Cavs even a 2nd round pick

Hoping for Jaylen Brown or Simmons with the 1st pick. Crowder is a stud, but another long and versatile wing would do wonders. We could also get Poeltl and solidify the C position for the first time in a long time.

After that, I'm good. Danny can package, draft and stash and maybe flip picks this year for picks in future years (Belichick approach) to keep the train rolling.

look to ainge draft and stashing esp with 6 2nd rounders

then we may need to get rid of some guys to make room for the 1st rounders like turner, zeller, (which is a worst case scenario)

Fine, I'll rephrase.  It's arguably no more value. Clearly we need no more picks this year.  Future 1sts are rarely if ever traded on draft night in a straight pick swap, especially ones that aren't lottery protected.   We already have what should be a mid 1st from the Mavericks and a later 1st as our own, and some early 2nds.  If they can't make a blockbuster for some established player, I'd rather they just pick their guy a few spots early if they like him, rather than trying to pull off some deal for an extra first in two years and risk that the player they don't want to overdraft won't be there. A pick that eventually becomes 2 seconds in 3-4 years is useless.

Teams seem very leery of trading future 1sts, and if you can't get one, just move on.

A future second isn't worthless.

I think if you don't get a deal done then you go for small move ups target your player.
Say picks are 4, 19, 24, 31, 35, 52, 55, 57.
Package 24, 35 and 57 for the 20 pick to have back to back picks.
4, 19, 20, 31, 52, 55
Package 31, 52, 55 for 29
4, 19, 20, 29
Package 19 and 29 for 14.

You end up with just 3 picks at 4, 14, and 20

I like this idea. The only sticking point is that 19 and 29 for #14. I'm not sure if that 29th pick is enough to move us up five positions in the draft.

Coincidentally, the current holder of #19 is Charlotte (We're #21). So maybe we could offer them #21 and three other first-rounders for #19, but they probably wouldn't take it.

Worst-case scenario IMO. This is how the rebuild fails. Danny needs to turn these picks into a star, and he needs to do it ASAP.

If we stay at 4 I could see us picking Bender as a draft and stash, assuming he's still on the board. Later in the first round you have guys like Luwawu and Jeanne who could also be stashed and depending on where they drop could be great value.

In all honesty there will be some teams looking for a pick in this draft, either our Dallas pick or one of our early first rounders. Maybe we turn one of those and some of the picks in the 50s into a solid rotation piece.

 The picks in the 50s are unlikely to ever make it onto a roster so they'll likely be used on punts (international or otherwise) that could pan out in a few years
