Stein says they're negotiating buyout to make him playoff eligible. I want him
I could very well see the Hawks... starting Taurean Prince at the 3, who is already better than Crowder, imo.

you vs. the guy she tells you not to worry about

Just saw this. If we can't get Joe, Martin should be the guy.
Isaiah, you were lightning in a bottle.

Either one would have been pretty helpful tonight, when we couldn't hit any threes lol

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
Would much rather Joe than Martin.
I think OKC might get him back anyway.

Only concern is that Joe would rather come off bench for Lebron vs Crowder.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Big fan of getting Martin here. Much better player than iso Joe at this stage anyway

Will be interesting to see what the buyout terms end up being. Martin has a player option for next season for just under $7.4 million. How much, if any, will he leave on the table?

This is a no brainer for me.

Think of having him come off the bench for 10/15 minutes a game.

At worst he would  hit the shots that young and hunter miss.

At best he slots right into our second unit as a floor spacing vet and helps our super subs become even more of a headache for the opposition.

Martin has a lot of flaws:  he doesn't play defense, he's streaky (and has been terribly inefficient this year), he doesn't rebound or pass much, and he's soft.

But, he does have one very good skill:  he can get to the line frequently.  He's declined in that area, but he still averages more FTA per minute than every rotation Celtic other than IT.

As crazy as it may sound, I think I might actually rather have him than Johnson on this Celtics team.  Think he would fit in better in limited minutes.

No guards please. Team needs to get another big that can rebound and/or defend.

As others have said a big would probably help more, as would Joe Johnson in terms of playing small ball lineups.  But on the flipside, it certainly wouldn't hurt.  Worst case he just rides the pine.

Great point about Kmart getting to the line Roy!!!

I would not necessary say he has terribly inefficient this year.  He is shooting 36.9% from long distance and 88% at the FT line.  Yes, the 37.7% overall FG% is terrible:-((((

I'd love to add him.

People are talking about adding a defensive big man instead, but there are two problems with that:

1) There are no defensive big men available that I'm aware of that I would have any interest in

2) We have about 45,000,000 bigs on this roster already, and can't play the ones we have

3) We are skating on thin ice in terms of backcourt depth - if any one of our rotation guards (Smart, IT, Bradley or Smart) gets hurt OR if either of our wings get hurt (Crowder, Turner) then we are going to run into some big trouble in terms of depth.

Likewise if we were to lose Bradley or Thomas we'd have zero outside shooting on the perimeter.

We really need an extra proven veteran wing / shooter and Martin could give us that, and there is no need to sign him past this season.  He's the type of player who could have a real impact in the playoffs, and I prefer him over Joe Johnson.

whose minutes would he take? the celtics rotation is playing very well together and can "mix and match" players depending upon situations or match ups.

martin would get how many minutes a night when lee couldn't even get the splinters out of his butt? are folks here saying the martin could help the team to more wins? how many games can we expect the 10th man on the team to win for the team?

i just dont see any reason to bring him on board given his limited talents right now.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
