Says he cleared waivers and is signing with the Mavs:

"Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine  1h1 hour ago
David Lee is Dallas-bound, Steve Novak is headed for Milwaukee and now San Antonio will try to convince Anderson Varejao to spurn the champs"

David Lee to the Mavs.... Solid back up. But as much as I love Dirk, I hope Lee totally screws up for them.

At least he didn't go to the Nets. He should get some solid minutes in Dallas.

Hopefully, the mavs wont realize that he will be a net negative for the team despite possible "solid performances"

What does this do to our salary cap if anything by buying out Lee?
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

Gives the Celtics a $23 million cap hold that will be off the books in July, opening up a crap load of space.

In recent history, Carlysle has had a lot of success turning athletic PF with mediocre talent into beasts in the pick and roll (think Brandon Wright, Dwight Powell). David Lee doesn't have his what athleticism he did have anymore. I'm hoping this backfires and the Mavs continue to slip down the standings.

Seems more like their ill-fated Amare Stoudemire signing last year.

Lee will make for a halfway decent bench option at C for Dallas. Nice complement to Zaza.

I don't get why people aren't more excited about this. The Celtics will most likely have the Mavericks pick and David Lee by all accounts is a net negative on your team even if he's playing well. If the Mavs play him, they'll get worse. No questions asked.

I'd say he's an upgrade over Villaneuva.  But hopefully he scrubs it up more than he did here with us.

I'm an upgrade over Villanueva at this point. That doesn't mean I make your team better if you added me.  ;D

Yup.  As much as Lee didn't deserve to play with us he is better than guys better teams have in their rotation.  We actually have a number of solid big men is the thing, even if we don't have any one that's particularly good.
