In an alternative universe, Gronk went into basketball.

My hypothetical scouting report:
-6'7 PF with outstanding quickness, good explosiveness, solid length, excellent strength
-Great in the PnR: sets hard screens, rolls to the basket, soft hands.
-Outstanding rebounder for his size. Great boxout technique and timing. Ball sticks in his hands.
-Physical in the post on both ends. Lacks advanced moves, but plays bigger than 6'7. Tremendous upper body strength.
-Can face up and blow by slower bigs if they don't sag off him
-Excellent, versatile on-ball defender when locked in
-Non-shooter outside 17'. 60% FT
-Willing passer, but below-average BBIQ. 0.7 AST/TOV. Foul prone.
-Plays hard, but is prone to losing focus. Misses rotations, doesn't read the defense.
-Projection: #5.

What's your scouting report on him? Where do you draft him?

Nah, he'd go in the 2nd round, like a Leon Powe. Gronk would have been a basketball beast, though. 21 points, 18 rebounds a game his senior year in high school. 360 dunks.

I think if Gronkowski could have played at a high level in the NBA, he definitely would have.

I mean, guaranteed contracts, come on.

No brainer.

Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Julius Peppers did work for UNC basketball. I like that comparison.
