I am very worried that even if we land pick 1 or 2 in the lottery, that Ainge will trade it for an "established star." This really worries me because with a top 2 pick you basically get them guaranteed the first 9 years of their career (they rarely leave after their rookie contract), and I think Ingram is going to be a transcendent - TRANSCENDENT - talent. I think he will be as good as Durant (although they play different positions), and given how we have a nice young core and other trade chips, I'm hoping that due to our impatient fan base (as well as Danny also being impatient) that we don't make a move like the Cavs did that we regret.

The fact that the pick was not in play for Love, Horford, Howard, etc.. means Ainge values it highly.  If he trades it, it will be for a REAL star that will help you forget the pick quickly.  Enjoy.  The future looks bright!  8)

No matter what Ainge does with the pick, if it's top 2, that's not a problem.

I'm not concerned about Ainge trading the pick for less than it's worth.

Now that the trade deadline has passed, it means we will know exactly where that pick falls in the draft before it gets traded, so there's no longer the worry it might get traded and then turn into a top 2 pick.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Fat chance Danny trades the pick if it lands #2. The only reason he'd have traded it was the uncertainty of it landing in the 3+ range.

Yeah, I'm backing Denis here. 95% chance we keep the top two pick and draft the stud, and a big fat if we traded it, it would be for Cousins, Paul George, Durant level talent so no worries.

If it goes top 2, we'll probably keep it.   If it falls outside the top 2 (far more likely), there will be significantly less interest than there probably was at the trade deadline.  The lure of that pick was the potential to land a star prospect with it.

I'd rather take Paul George. I want the proven star whose ready to go. Too many whiffs at the top of drafts. Crap shoot.

Talent like George is no crap shoot.

I'll be happy either way. But i think if it lands in the top 2 then we are in a better spot than we were in 2007. We have a much better team all around and the pick will be 3 or 4 spots higher that landed us Ray. So hopefully he could flip it for a Durant, George, or DMC. On a side note wouldn't that be something if we ended up flipping the pick to OKC for Durant? in 2007 the player that danny liked the most was Durant and everyone died a little when we lost the lottery and now we might have a chance to get him. Funny how things work. Gotta think Durant would be a perfect fit in Brads system.

Either way i'll be excited. Here's to hoping the Nets have a terrible 2nd half of the season and we win the lotto.

Durant is a free agent this year. There won't be any trade of this pick going to anyone that is going to be a free agent this off season.

I thought we could do a sign and trade with him and KD. Wasn't thinking. I thought about how the cavs did it with Wiggins but Love was under contract at the time.

I'd rather have a 19 year old Durant with the top 2 pick than a 27 year old Durant or even a 25 year old Griffin, DeMarcus, etc. We have the other pieces around the pick where it wouldn't be like OKC where in the beginning they sucked cuz they were playing all young picks.

IMO, and I've been saying this for awhile, Boston either needs to build around the BKN pick or go all in and cash in the assets to rise to an immediate contender.  I see no point in keeping the pick and not doing much of anything else because that is a recipe for mediocrity.

If we keep the pick and it's top 2 and don't do anything in the offseason I'd be fine with that. The 2017 free agency class is going to be much better than the 2016 one so I'd be ok sitting out a year, especially if the C's win 50 games this year.

However, if the pick is not in the top 2 and the only move they make of note is that draft pick then I 100% agree with you.

On the flip side, trading the pick for a guy like Love/Griffin probably increases our chances at Horford, so I'd be ecstatic to get one of those guys. This team is probably a least 5 games better if you replace our bigs with Love/Griffin and Horford (assuming we don't have to give up much other than picks in such a deal)
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

But you're not getting Love or Griffin for just picks.
