I would imagine that's the plan. Same as last year. Why make a trade when the asking price is too high. Wait til 2 o clock when the other team gets desperate and takes the offer you are willing to make.

It seems Houston are starting to get desperate so it makes sense for Danny to wait.

Yup.....he is playing chicken ......daring them to keep em and let walk for nothing this summer

I would

If we get one of these guys it's going to be five minutes before deadline.

Neither wants to pay them huge multi year contracts. They ll want this summer......especially Houston ....I think they are done with Howard.

I just think he refuses to pay sticker price.

Whether or not a trade is made today will depend on how stubborn the other GM is.

Just do not over pay for the most likely big man names out there.  (well except for Blake)

This although I'll add Cousins to possibly overpay.

Ainge rarely loses with trades, and in many case becomes mutually beneficial for both teams.  I don't see Ainge overpaying for Love, Horford, or Howard.  For the latter 2 I could see at most giving up what he got back in the Rondo trade last year, and I can't see Ainge throwing in the Nets pick in a Love deal.  Today should be exciting though!

I would to for Cousins, but I do not think he is available.

I think Danny snags Beal from Washington for Bradley and the 2 late firsts.

From your lips...

But does Washington want to give up Beal while trying to convince KD to come home?

Well for one, Washington doesn't have much of a team past Beal and Wall anyway. Quite a miniscule chance KD even comes there, they are better off building around what they already have. Beal is a RFA this season, and is probably going to command a max contract this off season. Given his recent injury woes, it makes sense to trade his contract in for a young cost controlled player in AB, and a few young rookies. The rookies may not be future all stars in that range, but will help to form a formidable bench going foward.

Gotta wonder, what type of ridiculous deals are they trying to get from Boston

you've explained the appeal for Wash but not for Boston.  Beal can't stay healthy, he's not the defender AB is and he's looking for a big payday soon but is a questionable investment for health reasons.

I like Beal, when he's healthy.  but that's not as often as it should be for me to consider shipping out AB and 2 firsts for him.

No reason for Ainge to overpay. C's surge to the #3 seed has come at a great time. Everyone knows that Ainge is happy to stand pat.

I think it's well worth offering a big contract to Beal, maybe the injury issues are behind him, and he has already proved himself in the league at the ripe age of 23. He might be the next James Harden for all we know :D. If I had my laptop with me I would Photoshop a beard on Beal for the purpose of this post.
