Cs get Jeff Green and Ennis

Grizz get Jerebko, Zeller, Young and 76ers 2016 2nd

I would even float the idea of swapping Sully for Zeller and dropping the Pick

The logic to this is that the Grizz just traded Lee's expiring for a bunch of picks and Bird Man. This is an obvious cashing out an expring contract and not a more towards winning this season. The above trade gives the Grizz a young center to start in Gasols place in Zeller (or in Sully a replacement for the aging Zach Randolph), a Young wing to groom and in Jerebko a nice on the fly replacement for Green who has a trade friendly contract at the end of the season.

For the Cs they bring back Green much like DA did in the past with Antoine Walkers return for a late season push. Green comes back to a much different team. I would expect him to come off the bench but be a high minutes fixture of a smallish ball lineup. If Sully is traded the minutes work seamlessly as KO slides in as the starter with Johnson and Green takes on KO and Jerebkos minutes. Over the last 5 games this would average out to 34 min per coming off the bench. If Zeller is moved things remain clogged up a bit but still alot Green 28min per game. The addition of Green would give the Cs the best short (short of trading for a star) to beat the Cavs. IT, AB, Smart, Crowder and Green would allow the Cs to throw a GS like small bal llineup at the Cavs and really pressure Love to defend.

I actually like this. Would much rather have Green off the bench than Jerebko, and we don't really give up any major assets.

9 man rotation of: IT, Avery, Marcus, ET, Jae, Jeff, Kelly, Amir, Sully could be nice for a playoff run
2025 CelticsStrong Historical Draft Orlando Magic:
PG: Chris Paul, Fred VanVleet
SG: Ray Allen, OG Anunoby, Zach Lavine
SF: Paul Pierce, Gordon Hayward
PF: Chris Bosh, Serge Ibaka, David West
C: Tim Duncan, Andrew Bogut

I personally think Jerebko is better than Green. He plays better defense, can hit 3s and comes to play every night. I don't dislike Green or and wouldn't mind getting him on the cheap but he certainly doesn't come to play every day. I remember many invisible performances.

Absolutely not. I cannot say that enough. Absolutely not. Not ever. No Jeff Green.  One of the single worst Celtics ever.

JR Bremer
Todd Day
Greg Minor
Montross
Acie Earl

That team beats a team of 5 Jeff Green clones, even if two of them are scaled down to be guards and one of them scaled up to be a center.

In a game between Sheed and Jeff Green for a hundred dollar bill the game is never decided because neither puts in the effort to show up.

No. Absolutely not. No

Why, why, why would this be unpopular?

Unpopular in Memphis?
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

No thanks.  I was thrilled when we got rid of Green the first time.  The guy is a waste of great talent.

Oops, didn't see we were giving up the PHI 2nd.

I thought we were giving up a 2nd, not a late 1st.

Otherwise, Zeller, Young, and 2nd round picks are practically useless to us (and a Jerebko for Green swap would give us pretty equal defense but better scoring).

I always get a kick out of trade ideas that make the Celtics a team that could make "a playoff run". I say SO WHAT?  I am convinced that Ainge will swing for the fences (Howard, Horford, etc), or do nothing.

Zeller is every bit as valuable as Jeff Green, who isn't any better than Evan Turner, who is already a bench player on this team. Jerebko is close. Then we throw in James Young and a pick that's arguably worth slightly MORE to us than a late 1st?

Green is a rotation-worthy guy, but that's about it. Paying for him with 3 rotation-worthy players and a pick makes zero sense.

Jeff Green is the anti-thesis of this current Celtics team. No heart, no hustle, no drive, no consistency. If we took him back on this team, Jae and Marcus would probably just absolutely berate him after one of those standard, don't give a Shizer Jeff Green performances.

Plus, I don't want Jeff anywhere near Kelly Olynyk anymore. Were finally starting to see some consistency and hard work coming from him. Good improvement. Hangin with Uncle Jeff could just destroy that progress.

The Celtics main objective since the day PP and KG where traded has been to land a star. This is still the case but this doesn't come easy. I fail to see how making a trade geared towards "a playoff run" is a bad idea. The Cs are absolutely loaded with assets and to make a short sited deal to help this team in the playoffs with out giving up anything other then trade filler seems very reasonable. You mention Howard but he too could very well be a short term rental unless DA really wants to pay him ridiculous money to age in Boston.
