Here's the imaginary scenario..... the C's make the playoffs and end up playing against the Cavs in a playoff series. Either one of the Celtics bigs are out for some reason or the bigs are totally ineffective.

Might this be the time to play David Lee in hopes of rejuvenating the team?

It does sound preposterous given Lee's +/- numbers this year. Yet, last year he was the savior the Warriors needed to win the Championship. Bogut couldn't do much of anything while Lee shined.

I bring this up because the consensus in this group seems to lean towards automatically offering Lee a buy-out after the trade deadline. Presuming he's not traded.

Is this realistic given that he can still score and change the pace of a game? Sure, he can't play defense and has holes in his offensive game. Yet, last year, against the bigger Cavs he proved he can play well against them. Would it be foolish just to release him when he could prove to be a valuable commodity in the playoffs?

Woj just about confirmed he's being bought out.
