Well this really sucks. Bosh is one of the best both on and off the court. He doesn't get the respect he deserves.

Wow--I was actually thinking about this yesterday---when they said he had leg problems...he's a good guy----hopefully he's okay.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

I was afraid this might be career threatening.

Man, that's crazy.  Obviously, we all hope he's okay and that maybe it's not as bad as what's being reported...

But let's say just for a second that this is the exact same situation as last year.  Having this happen to him 2 years in a row is no joke.  This very well could completely alter the future of his basketball career.  Much luck to him, always seemed like a good guy when listening to him in interviews and stuff.

On a secondary note and of course less important for this story...the Heat now have to seriously think sooner rather than later about looking for a new option long term at the starting power forward spot.  Bosh is a huge piece to their roster and without him, their championship aspirations go down the tube.  Gotta wonder now if making a Dwight Howard deal is even worth it.  Say Bosh has to retire because of this, that's a whoooole lot of money suddenly available for the Heat to spend.  Gotta figure they'll throw everything they can at either Durant or Horford this summer to fill that void.

If Bosh has to retire, that doesn't necessarily mean he has to stop taking the Heats money and clear cap space for them. He could retire and continue to get his cash until his contract is over thereby staying on the Heats cap sheet. Sure the. Heat could get reimbursed by insurance but the money would stay on the books. In order for him to get off the books, he would need to send in retirement papers to the league and not every player does that

Poor dude  :( . Seems like an intelligent and cool guy in addition to being a great athlete. I hope for his sake this doesn't push him into immediate retirement. I wish him nothing but the best for his health. Good thing he has the money to get the best treatment possible.

A reoccurrence of blood clots wouldn't be surprising.  Brian Vickers, a NASCAR driver, has had 3 or 4 occurrences of blood clots.  Vickers is racing in the Daytona 500 this year.  Even if Bosh has had a reoccurrence, it doesn't necessarily mean he'll be forced into retirement.

Sucks to hear. He was the only likable one of the Heat's Big 3. Seems like a genuinely good and intelligent guy.

Hopefully it's nothing too serious, but if this causes him to miss the rest of the season it could have a significant impact on the trade deadline.  Miami is involved in a bunch of trade discussions right now.

I didn't like him while he was with the big 3, but I liked him prior to joining the Heat, and I liked him again after Lebron left for Cleveland.  The Lebron effect!

Not cool for Bosh or the NBA.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

I guess Xarelto isn't all it's cracked up to be (the commercial with Bosh, Vickers, Palmer, and Nealon). That is terrible news - didn't love Bosh with the "Lebron Era" Heat, but he has always been a stand-up guy and a great basketball player. Hopefully the doctors can get this figured out, but it doesn't sound too promising. You are right, though, I guess there is always the possibility of a [very] reduced role, but why even risk it?
