I always enjoy looking at draft prospects as the year progresses, but is there any way we keep the pick if it lands outside of the top 2? We will be looking for an elite wing scorer or a potentially (future) dominant big man and these are not the strengths of this draft earlier on. Also, I imagine we are going to be in 'win-now' mode with the way we are playing.

It's really too bad we didn't have this pick last year, but beggars can't be choosers. Regardless, draft time will be a lot of fun; thanks for posting the big-board

Teams in win now mode are still accruing talent for continued development so they continue to be contenders.  Spurs are an excellent example of this concept.  taking a player in the top 5 this year isn't a negative impact on this team -- in fact, the construct of this team would allow that player to develop without the pressure to contribute right away.  if they can contribute, all the better.

I do understand the concept and realize there is a 'chance', just seems like Danny is ready to make a big splash after a quiet offseason last summer. The Spurs have a very nice core, but even they would have dealt the #5 pick for Aldridge if they needed to. They aren't exactly swimming in top 5 picks.

Of course you trade the #5 pick for Aldridge.  I think the point is that you're not getting a great return for that pick in a draft that's not deep, and thus you're perhaps better off using the pick and developing that player.  You're certainly not getting Aldridge.

Best Case for us is to get the 2nd pick and take Brandon Ingram.. Later take DEJOUNTE MURRAY and Jonathan Jeanne.
My best case scenario is we get the #1 pick and the Sixers get the #2 pick.  The Sixers really, really want Simmons so we swap picks with them and pickup one of their bigs.

Good point.

Does anyone know the odds of getting the 1 or 2 pick if the Nets are 3rd?  What about if they're 4th?
31.3% at 3rd and 24.5% at 4th.

6. Prince
+1 for Jeanne. He's the most athletic 7'2 player (with a 7'7 wingspan!) I've ever seen, although admittedly he's also maybe the skinniest player I've ever seen. But he runs the floor incredibly well, he moves well laterally, and he's got bounce. Zhou Qi has a similar body, without the athleticism, but with a much higher skill level.

Great minds think alike. TP for beating me to it; that's what I was coming to write. I'd love to see him as a draft and stash.

Really hoping he falls so we can take him with our pick.

If we get lucky and come away with Luwawu and Jeanne I will be a very happy man.

Deyonta Davis has been impressive for a fairly unheralded freshman. Seems like most think he could return to school but if he comes out he could see a rise during workouts. He reminds me of Mickey. Great size at the 4, long arms, some nice bounce in his game.

If Davis does come back to school for his sophomore season he could rise into the lottery next year for an MSU team that will be looking to replace a lot of Denzel Valentine and Matt Costelo's production.

Luwawu looks good, too. Nice Draft Express piece on him:

lol

I hadn't heard of Jonathan Jeanne. I just looked him up and Draft Express has him listed at 7'2" and 195 lbs. That's insane. IT is listed as 185lbs and he's 17 inches shorter! I get that the kid is only 18 but [dang].

I started looking into Jeanne. He seems like a foreign player till he bulks up. Way too thin. He worries me when it comes to filling out and keeping his athletic ability. But perhaps he turns out like Gobert which is still a decent athlete. He also seems to slide his feet a lot like Myles Turner did in college. Some scouts may worry about his gate. He may be best suited to declare when 20 yearsold so he can grow. He should go top 10 if he progresses like Gobert (add weight) and Turner(improve game and mechanics). Right now there is too much risk to draft top 25. If I'm his advisor I tell him to keep working and wait another year or two.

Outside of the top 10 it's fine to take a risk on a player who might bust - not a big deal if you miss out on an average rotation player. You're playing for upside at that point, if it's there, and Jeanne has obvious upside. His weight is a big question mark, but there aren't many big post players anymore and really nobody plays two of those guys at once, so as long as he's paired with someone like Sully i think he his strengths can outweigh his skinniness.

He is actually, deceivingly, quite strong, and there are numerous examples of him finishing nicely in traffic.

I think I am leaning toward Ingram over Simmons for the Celtics. His 3 point shooting is just too enticing. He will immediately contribute on Celtics. Of course simmons would as well, but Simmons needs to go to a team with great 3 point shooting already in place. What a shame that he will probably go to a team with awful 3 point shooting. His best hope is to go to Boston, or hope that LA or Philly make a big shooting splash, which of course they probably will.
