3 team trade...Bos/Atl/Hou...with us getting Horford---Howard to Atl...?

or will Howard just end up on the Cavs--?

Doesn't make sense for Atlanta who would move Horford to avoid having him leave for nothing in the offseason.

Maybe the other way around.  Horford to the Rockets and Howard to the Celtics.

But then in that case, who do the celtics rather, Horford or Howard?

Horford and it's not close

I agree, for a ton of reasons, not the least of which is that Howard's game is predicated on athleticism, and Horford's not so much. Horford's game will age much better.

Picks thrown in all over this one, but If Howard opts out, ATL gets picks and a bunch of cap space, PHI gets the Teague they want, HOU gets 2 solid bigs and picks, and we get the best of it plus a Landry salary for 2 years.

Sorry, I'm stuck on getting Horford and Noel today.

The more Howard's price goes down, the more appealing he would be to trade for. I doubt he's signing here long term and I don't want to be the one to pay him, but if the price is cheap enough why not improve the team now.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Hawks would be wise to move HOrford, because I can't imagine that guy sticking around there.

So this is pretty good news given that as much as I hate Howard, I have to acknowledge they would make a similar impact on teams and should have similar trade value.   Having two available at the same time might drive down the price a bit.  "Cool, so you don't want Sully and two 1sts for the guy who is leaving you this Summer?... k... let's see if Houston wants it."

Couldn't have said it better myself. The Celtics have all the leverage here because both of these guys are free agents this summer and the Celtics are already one of the best teams in the conference without them.

Granted the Celtics aren't getting past Cleveland the way they are currently constructed, but Howard or Horford would inch them closer to Cleveland's level.

Or Howard and Horford are swapped for each other.  Howard is from Atlanta so he might actually stay there, especially if he likes playing with Millsap.  Might even convince him to opt in before the trade.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Please no Dwight Howard.

Horford is 8.3 times better.

Assuming we're not taking him, who are likely candidates?  Not too many teams with the resources to get him, enough talent left to try to contend with him, and a decent shot  to resign.  It's not happening but I hope he gets flipped to the Lakers again just so Kobe can torment him for another couple of months.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I would much rather have Howard if the package would be the same and the chances of re-signing either of them would be the same. I like Horford, but Howard's defensive impact would be awesome and we wouldn't have to worry about having no true center. Howard's complaints earlier in the year had to do with his teammates not playing hard enough on defense. I think he would fit in great here.

More like this:

We can throw in a bunch of 2nd round picks--and a few 1st round picks if needed (non-BK)

Houston guys are bringing up Charlotte as a possibility. Al Jefferson's expiring, one of their young bigs (kaminsky or Cody Zeller) and probably a pick. Supposedly Lin and Howard are very good friends. Their problem in Houston was James Harden.

I think Howard will amscray from Houston no matter what happens because he hates playing next to Harden.

If it's a choice between Howard and Horford, I'd rather have Howard if it's a rental, but I'd rather have Horford if it's a long term extension.

Maybe they will start a One-on-One league...then Howard will finally be happy.
