I write this about the Celticblog main article about Lee. I would write this in the comments but I can't seem to figure out how to log into the comments.

This is a great post on how the salary floor works and if you are curious about this sort of stuff you should definitely read it.

I'm fairly stupid so I had to reaad it slowly, twice, but it seems logical: trade Lee to Portland for no salary coming back and both teams save money.

I'm curious though if there are any salary geeks out there who know more about the buyout. If the celtics buy him out, is there a waiver period? If there is and he "clears" waivers, do the Celtics get salary relief if another team subsequently signs him to a remainder-of-the-year (or multi-year) contract?

Also, well done David Lee for being such a good sport, well, a good sport getting paid 15m, about all this.
