Tyson Chandler?

If Chandler was on the books for one more season I'd be ok with rolling the dice on him for Lee.  Danny seems very averse to adding non-star salary for next season so I doubt the team would agree, though.

But with 3 more seasons at that salary it's just a complete non-starter.  Maybe the worst contract in the league right now.

Omer Asik's is worse if you ask me.

Really?  More years, but the last year is only partially guaranteed, there's $1 million in unguaranteed incentives every year that are unlikely to hit, and the guaranteed per year for the 4 guaranteed seasons is like 30-40% less than Tyson's.  Asik's been playing terribly though, but at 29 he's not in the "every year will very likely be worse than the one before" territory Tyson is.

Both contracts stink, but Tyson is at least a body you can put on the floor.  I'm not sure Asik is playable against most good NBA teams.

I think on a team with quality point guard play and decent spacing, Tyson will probably be able to give you a solid 15-20 minutes a night if he's healthy.  Asik is only going to be useful if you're playing a team that relies on a post-up specialist at center for 15-20 possessions a night.  How many teams do that?  Most post-up guys these days that get significant minutes have other weapons in their arsenal.

In general, I think people aren't seeing this from a standpoint of the new salary cap. Tyson's 12mil/year deal is going to be pretty below-average compared to what the going rate for bigs will be at the given market.
If most starter-level bigs will be making at least an Enes Kanter deal (4yr/$70mil), Tyson as a bench big is fine at 12mill.

I've watched a few suns games on NBA League pass, and boy has he lost a step, a leg, and an arm. His PER 36 is still pretty good, but because hes unable to switch so quickly on pick and rolls, and he looks extremely fatigued, hes been getting very low minutes.

I don't think Tyson is cooked or toast or glazed lol He is older but would still be best rebounding big on our team...and he is still capable of playing big minutes... just a week ago played 36 pts(20rebs) TWO days later played 44 mins (27rebs).

I think Tyson could give us a boost as a starter now and off the bench/mentor role in the next few years... 12mil doesnt seem undoable with the cap increase coming

I'd rather we concentrate our efforts on Horford or even Gallo. If Chandler had only one or two years left, you might consider Lee for Chandler straight up, but 3 years is a bit much. We don't really have a long term bad contract to match.
